What is a 'Win' in Majestic FFA?

Due to family and work commitments I have DL the maps but not yet played the FFA list.

In Regicide anything but 1st place is recorded as a loss. In Halo 3 and Halo Reach finishing top half of the players awarded EXP and recorded as a ‘win’ - Lone Wolves H3 top 3 out of 6 were awarded EXP.

Can anyone inform me of what is happening with the Majestic FFA list and their W/L please?

If you’re not first, you’re last.

Every game mode requires you to be on the number one spot, either as a team or individually, depending on game mode.

Flood was awful in that aspect. Tried to get three wins to complete the first tier of the Flood victory commendation, just to see the helmet, took me 11 games.

Thruster Pack doesn’t help either…

I can understand FFA requiring first place, but Flood? A community gametype? Where a single round can determine first or second place? No, that’s a terrible idea. Should be Top 3 for Flood.

If it wasn’t for these two reasons (more the Thruster Pack than anything else), I’d have Commando Fracture Skin in three weeks or less, and Flood would be my number one playlist that I’d play. Except for variety, it’d be hard to get me off of the Flood playlist once Thruster Pack (at least) is gone.

Just kill everyone, and you should be all right .

The ‘first or last’ system for FFA is awful. In a regular 4v4 game, you and three other players compete against an opposing four. There are an equal number of players working for your win as there are against.

In FFA, there are (depending on gametype) 4-7 players all directly competing against you as an individual. This is why in previous titles a top 50% finish counted as a win; you beat more players than you were beaten by. The first or last system makes keeping a decent win % tricky.

Although I will say, winning in regular FFA is much easier than it was in Regicide. You can gain a good lead, and both not be hunted for it and not have someone catch up out of nowhere because you were overrun.

I’m struggling to understand what was wrong with every other Halo and treating top half as a win. Win/Loss % just gets wrecked by this

So I see someone watched “The Rise and Folly of Ricky Bobby” :stuck_out_tongue:

OT: Even worse, it screws up trueskill as well because it is based on Wins and Losses, meaning that trueskill may as well not exist in FFA since everyone will be frequently losing games.

Which is another reason W/L means nothing in this game. I don’t like team based games (especially 4v4) so I stick to FFA most of the time. In regicide I can go 26/8, come in 2nd place and get a loss on my record. I can join in a game of BTB with two minutes left, go negative and get a win. SMH

With the stupid amount of power weapons in majestic FFA it’s just as random. I swear every 3 kills yesterday I had a shotgun come up in my ordnance drop.

And KDR, and KADR, and jus about everything else.

No there is no way to track the merit of skill an individual player has in this game, and It is like that on purpose. A franchise Microsoft has pushed in a direction to attract the sub par demographic which now is the core it would seem.

Competitive Halo is dead, the only thing left is the delusion created by nostalgia.

I agree, if they aren’t going to put in a visible in game ranking system then they need to keep K/D and W/L out as well.

On Halotracker a win on Flood is considered being in the Top 3 at the end of the game.

In Halo 3 you got exp in Rumble Pit and Lone Wolves if you got in the Top 4. I know for sure in Reach was somewhat different at least on Bnet
