What exactly is a troll? I am new here. I have seen the term “troll” used very often, but I cannot determine what exactly a troll is.
Is it when you say something that is obviously false?
Or when you say something sarcastically?
Someone please tell me…
And yes, I have made over 200 posts and do not know what a troll is.

Basically, if you’re being manipulative or crafty in an attempt to piss off everyone around you, you’re trolling.
One could troll by (insincerely) praising something that the majority of the community loathes, or by making controversial posts (e.x. politics, religion) in unrelated threads… Basically, any situation where one puts on a mask and tries to piss people off without resorting to direct insults can potentially count as trolling.
Of course, since trolling often involves deception, a lot of people will quickly call “troll” on posts that may actually be sincere. Ironically, that kind of behavior is happening in this very thread.

Troll- A mean spirited monster who needs to get back under his or her respective bridges . Makes life generally miserable on forums though the occasional funny troll can evoke laughter.
Trolls can also purposely “prefer” things most are against or “dislike” in order to provoke emotional responses. This way, they can continue to insult other users until the thread is locked.
