So I think it’s now safe to say that Storm Covenant will be staying with us for a while longer. There should be interesting changes in the combat, perhaps the Brutes might make a heroic return, but since Halo 2 one word has caught my attention. Sharquoi. Not much is know about this species other than in Frank O’Connor’s words they are “Very Freaking Dangerous”. So it’s safe to stay this is a lore friendly entity that hasn’t been written out of future games. Now I’m sure that I’m not the only one the enjoyed the diversity of the Promethean combat, but I also felt as though I had done it before. The Knights fought like Brutes and Watchers like Sentinels. The Crawlers though did feel very unique.
I would love the Covenant to gain this entity. It is easy to imagine the destructive possibilities of these things. Damaging and tanking like Hunters, yet skilful and tactical like an elite. I would like to know what the rest of the communities thoughts on the implementation of the Sharquoi are and whether they think it would fit with the rest of the Covenant.
The Sharquoi turned out to be the Drinol, a species cut from the original Halo.
If there is a canonical explanation, I’m all for it.
Since everyone is so bored of the Covenant… a Sharquoi could spice it up.
They’d probably just feel like hunters mixed with brutes.
Hunters are already supposed to be smart and tactical.

The Sharquoi was a covenant species that was only mentioned twice to my knowledge.
I’d love to fight a Sharquoi.
I’d probably wind up getting my -Yoink- roflstomped XD
This Storm Covenant could definetly use some more variety.
It would be neat if say, the UNSC is going after Jul 'Mdama and learn of an attempt to break into some old Covenant weapons cache the Brutes abandoned at some point. However they discover it is actually a containment facility where the Covenant kept the Sharquoi, something the UNSC didn’t expect at all considering they never encountered one before and they’re not exactly a member race. More like a ferocious animal they only let off the leash during extreme circumstances.
Palmer and Majestic are sent in to research an old Covenant weapon cache, only to find it containing the beasts. The other girl spartan of Majestic is critically wounded as so far that is her only purpose in the narrative, a plot device and maybe a relationship with Thorne or Houya (idk if i spelled that right).
Crimson is then sent in to save them and in the process fights a few of the beasts before destroying the facility.
It hasn’t been confirmed whether or not the Sharquoi are even canon.
As long as Conversations from the Universe remains canon, so do the Sharquoi. However, since they have never been seen 343i could make the Sharquoi into anything they desire. They don’t actually have to be the Drinol.

343i could retcon it, and insist that Sharquoi was never mentioned in the Halo Universe.
I assume that the Sharquoi were mentioned in ‘Conversations from the Universe’ because they were originally supposed to be in H2, and ‘Conversations’ was made during H2’s production. But, since they were cut from the game, and the fact that they’ve never been mentioned again, would imply that they do not exist in the canon.
It’d be nice if 343i clarified this.

Conversations from the Universe is published, canon Halo fiction, though; therefore, the Sharquoi do exist in the canon.

Canon can be changed. All I’m saying is that the Sharquoi may have been intended to be canon, but ended up not being.
