What is a good Halo book to read these days?

So I’m looking into reading another halo book but I’m not too sure what to go for. Its bin a while since I’ve read one and I’m looking for one that gives me the excitement like Ghosts of Onyx gave me when I first read it (Getting me pumped to play some Halo: Reach before its release). I started reading Halo: Glasslands a couple of years ago but it wasn’t catching my interest much, seemed like there was no action for a while in there and it just started boring me (not finished yet but may get around to it yet).

So far I have read:
The Fall of Reach.
The Flood.
First Strike
Ghosts of onyx.
Cole Protocol.

Any suggestions would be great thank you.

Thank you, I’m going to get Last light as I’ve noticed Legacy of onyx will be coming out soon and I’d like to see how Lucy and Toms story unfolds.

Cryptum, Primordium, & Silentium (The Forerunner Saga)
Evolutions and Fractures are really good compelations of short stories set in the Halo universe.
Contact Harvest lets Sgt Johnson shine, being set before the events of Halo Wars.
Broken Circle gives us sympathetic San’Shyuum (Prophet) characters. and shows a Sangheilli (Elite) society developing in isolation from other races.

Last Light is good, I also would recommend Halo: Fractures.

I’ve read them all, my favorites (that you haven’t read) were:
Contact Harvest
Last Light & Retribution
Envoy (especially if you enjoyed The Cole Protocol)
The Kilo-Five trilogy

I would definitely recommend Last Light, I actually just finished reading it earlier today and was amazed by how much I enjoyed it.

Thank you for the suggestions everyone, I have ordered Last light and retribution for the time being as I’d like to see what blue team have been up to before reuniting with the Master Chief.

kilo-five is Glasslands, Thursday War, and Mortal Dictata in my opinion they get a little stale after a while

  • The Forerunner Trilogy (Cryptum, Primordium, Silentium) - Last Light and Retribution - Envoy (if you want to follow Gray Team) - Evolutions and Fractures - New Blood (if you want more Buck) - Hunters in the Dark (more Ark and Sangheili action) - Broken Circle (if you want to see the origins of the Covenant)

Oh gotcha. I’ve read Glasslands and I have the other two, I just haven’t gotten around to reading them yet. Mortal Dictata didn’t seem that interesting from what I remember of the summary.

Contact harvest is a very good read. Without giving away too much, it gives you some really interesting insights into how the three Prophets (Truth, Mercy and Regret) rose to power, what life in the Covenant was like, Sgt. Johnson’s life during the early days of the War and a lot more.

I think a phenominal place to start would be the kilo-five trilogy which consists of.

  • Halo: Glasslands - Halo: The Thursday War - Halo: Mortal Dictata

Hunters in the Dark and Broken Circle are great books. More Ark and culture, respectively.
