A lot of the halo purists on this forum constantly say that halo is evolving in the wrong direction with halo 5. So I was wondering, what do you think would be evolution in the right direction in your eyes?
I’d say add in thrusters would be enough for it to be both fresh and work properly. Sprint isn’t very much needed in Halo and it destroys major strategies which contain alot of skill to perform and adds in strategies which are noob friendly. But if they include sprint only keep that as the new feature.
New weapons, maps, damage dealing/recieving, jump height and walk speed. That’s all is needed to make a game fresh. Just look at Counter Strike. Been basically the same game since release and it’s the #1 FPS in e-sports. They only changed walk speeds, weapon handling/damage and jump heights. Halo only needs to change that aswell. Not add in new fancy “original” concepts which change the way of playing Halo.

I don’t think that would be enough to keep halo alive. Halo revolutionized fps, why can’t they do it again?

Because there isn’t much more to revolutionise it with. there are so many FPS games out now which are so different so there’s basically nothing more to be done.
And Halo is suppose to be about simplicity and skill but it’s slowly turning to noob-friendly complexity which is easy to master. Halo is suppose to have a a easy learning curve but hard master curve. It’s going away from that.
I don’t get why a lot of people are against change, up until the MCC I was against big changes but since I can just jump into a classic halo 3 game (when it works, the launch status was a disgrace) I see no harm in letting 343 go experiment and try and create new experiences, all 343 can do is ruin the future they cant exactly fudge up the past (gamplay wise, they properly fudged the search engine)

I don’t think simplicity is necessarily what defines Halo. Halo is defined by balanced gameplay, Golden triangle and retaining accuracy while moving and shooting from the hip.
When Halo was simple, it worked. There’s nothing wrong with that and had Halo CE come out today, it wouldn’t be have the simplicity that it started with in 2001. Older technology limits your design choices and it’s not crazy to say that they probably imagined Halo to be more than what it was while they were creating it.
I want an in-game feature where you can start and join teams.

You should make a thread for that then! I think Halo 2 had something like that back in the days but got taken away on the PC version, would be pretty cool to have that.
This has already been discussed several times before, so I suggest you start looking up the forums. Also, we’re not the ones getting paid to make Halo. It’s 343’s job to find out.
