what if?

so, many of you people that are gonna read this will automatically think im crazy (aloso to the people who think halo is awesome how it is, i would recommend you stop reading this, but if your curious you can go on ahead and read), but i just thought of something interesting and wanted to see how the community would react to it.

alright so what if bungie made halo reach bad on purpose, what if there true swan song was to leave us with a bad taste? what if they did it for the love of the franchise?

so there are my questions and some of you are thinking that im pretty crazy, but stay with me now cause here is the catcher. let’s say they left on a bad note on a purpose, i think they might of done this so that we may grow more attach to 343 to who is gonna be the lead of halo franchise. they purposely lowered the bar for 343 so that we wouldn’t be as harsh on them. so that when their first actual halo game comes out (halo 4) we would love it with the thought, hey this isn’t as bad as the last game ( reach). they could of treated us like crap so that when 343 took over, they would welcome us with a warm hearted hello and a great big hug from bs angel. mainly because 343 is a new company and still trying to learn the tricks of making a halo game.

but hey it’s just a thought, please discuss =)

Well 343 was created (i think) before reach was being developed so most of the staff that worked on all other halo games would have moved over to 343. So Reach may not have had developers that were used to making halo games and they may not have known what was best for reach.

Anything is possible

im not really saying it is why reach is bad, it was more of me being on the computer, hey random idea in my head pops up, and i feel the need to put it on the internet, this idea however i found quite interesting

I dont consider the idea that they tried to make reach bad as true. They tried to make it as close to CE with updated quality and gameplay that theyd expect us as next gen gamers want. Not just Halo 3 with better graphics. That was their downfall, many people didnt like the change.

It’s hard for me to entertain this idea in my head. From a business standpoint, it makes no sense. Why would you want to make a sub-par product? Doing that hurts brand loyalty and affects future projects from the studio who made it because it reduces the confidence people have in their ability.

From a creative standpoint it’s even less plausible. Creative professionals usually have VERY lofty goals. You have to if you want to be successful. Not achieving them is part of working in a creative field, but the give and take, the compromise between what things you REALLY want to see is part of the job. I cannot for a moment imagine that the folks at Bungie set out to disappoint their fans. Keep in mind as well that they are also Halo fans. Why would they want to disappoint themselves?

While it’s an interesting thought, it’s logically not really something plausible. I doubt that any of Reach’s flaws, whatever you think they may be, are middle fingers to Microsoft. While Bungie is no longer under the Microsoft umbrella, it makes absolutely zero sense to burn bridges like your hypothesis suggests they may have tried to do.

Umm… bad taste? Reach wasn’t exactly anything to be ashamed of.
