What if?

What if the Covenant figured out how to make super soldiers of there own? Let’s say for instance that Elites and Brutes went through the same augmentations as the Chief and wound up with the same type of Mjolnir armor. Do you think humanity stands a chance now? Do you think the Chief would?

I’m interested to see your answers, leave your own “What if” as well!

In short, I feel humanity would get wrecked. If those powerful species received augmentations, they would become significantly more capable than the Spartans.

However, going on a bit of a tangent, I wonder if this is something the Covenant would be capable of. Sure, their technology is much superior, but they became successful by imitating using Forerunner tech instead of innovating like humanity did. Forerunner augmentations don’t seem to go beyond the armor many of them wore.

Yeah that’s a fair assessment, and considering the Prophets sort out relics and artifacts left behind by the Forerunners that they could use against Humanity I also doubt they would be able to augment their soldiers. I’d also assume that they wouldn’t want anyone in the Covenant too strong that they couldn’t control too in fear of being overthrown or killed.

To add my response to your post in the community Q&A, I’ll add that the Covenant did actually have its own brand of super soldiers: The Prelates. San Shyuum who were augmented both in body and mind to be superior.

If Elites or Brutes went through a similar augmentation process, Spartans would be -Yoinked!- physically. They’d have to rely more on tactics.

I think it would be over for all of us

That’d be interesting but also terrifying to see in-game. Prophets that walk around and actually don’t look they’re suffering from arthritis.

As someone already mentioned prelates, I guess I don’t have to do other than keep this portion as reminder of their existence.

What other I mention is that I doubt it would make the story impossible, it’s true that Elites & Brutes are physically more imposing than humans yes, but physical prowess is only part of what makes a species succesfull, in this case in battle.

Brutes surely are already something that shouldn’t be taken head on lightly, much less so in “super” form, however, I see Brutes as being far too hotheaded for their own health & usually that type of temper easily gets one killed when air is filled with lead. So I doubt a simple program would provide them means of becoming something that is absolutely impossible to stop.

And while I see elites being as more prominent candidates for difficult opponent if received augmentations, they too have their, imperfections.
A warrior species, already partly equivalent to most SPARTANs with their current technology.
So what would they lack then in the battlefield then? Their morality is possibly their limitation, their own type of honor code their tripping stone, while human soldier does whatever is necessary to win, high ranking Elites give opponents chances in battle to experience a “fair” fight, as much as one can be arranged, many also possess arrogance, akin to Ripa which also turned to its downfall in the end.

But in the end, everyone is a different individual. Some supersoldier Elites or Brutes would prevail over some SPARTANs while others wouldn’t.
But what I see as inherent edge humanity has in Halo universe is their craftiness, ability to adjust to & survive situations where survival could be deemed impossible by some standards.

So while some species in Halo have some strongsuits that can be more easily perceived visually, humanity in Halo universe has their strongsuits too.
Which is why I don’t believe that even in supersoldier form, other Halo species would absolutely dominate humanity critically more than it does currently.

And more importantly, humanity has survived covenant fleets which were the biggest killers in modern era of Halo, so I doubt few landdwellers would change the odds of humanity surviving that much either.

It’s been discussed before whether or not the Prophets would make their way into a game… In their feeble arthritic state, that’s a laughable concept. But as a boss battle with a Prelate, it could have promise. Halo hasn’t been very good at boss fights, except for one or two notable exceptions, but something like this could be fantastic. That would require some effort for explaining how the Prophets are back in the fight somehow, but the time skip between H5 and HI could provide some time for that.

I feel like this would be a new level of difficulty altogether above Legendary LASO
