This isn’t a thread to trash talk the req system it’s about what if Warzone was sort of like Battlefield, SWBF or BTB where vehicles waited for the players to pick them up in the main base and players launched out into the map to play what ever objective they’ve been given.
Weapons could be spread across the maps along with power ups to give the real Halo feel. Hell, even for -Yoink- and giggles since it seems Warzone is optimized to have AI in it there could even be AI powerups that’d spawn a wraith to help out your team.
What do you think Warzone would be like without the req system and remade in a BTB fashion?
Side note: With the Wasp coming out and apparently having energy shields can I ask why more UNSC vehicles have shields then Covenant ones? Not even the Phaeton has shields. Seems like more human favoritism if you ask me.
I think it would be significantly better and I would actually enjoy playing it, but it would also not be a massive cash cow for 343.
Nothing but pistols and ARs on the biggest maps in halo. Fun…

Hmm the first two comments are night and day that’s weird.
Anyways what do you mean. BTB has never just been Pistols and ARs. Power weapons and vehicles typically litter the area and when you play on heavies it’s even more intense.
I would probably have GB upon GB of multiple updates to download because I haven’t bothered with this game in so long… and I’d tolerate doing that just to play WZ if it had no reqs and weapons/vehicles on the maps.

Do any of you people actually think about these issues before you make knee jerk posts like this? I can only assume you’re a big fan of people pitching a tent with Sentinel Br/DMR with Stabilizer Jets and cross-mapping people on the pointlessly huge maps? Do you know what limiting easy engagement distances does for big team modes? It promotes MOVEMENT. It makes VEHICLES a bigger factor. It generally results in more dynamic game play, as opposed to a bunch of open areas you can try to cross on foot if you’re a big fan of 4 shots to the dome from some idiot standing still next to some nice cover off in the distance. You know, kind of like Halo 3’s BTB? Widely considered to be the best of the series? That works in no small part due to the limited effective range of the H3 BR.
What do we have in current Warzone? You have to stick to cover at all times for fear of being picked off by any number of easy precision weapons from fifteen miles away by anyone with thumbs or the incredibly, laughably easy snipers that people can abuse at REQ 6 and above. Warthog turrets are more of a liability than a threat. Vehicle effectiveness is extremely diminished by easy of team shot from almost any distance. The list of problems go on. And that’s without even addressing the negative impacts of the REQ system over on-map weapons/vehicles, which has a similar effect.

You’d be surprised. I played a round of WZ where because of a glitch, EVERYONE was stuck with pistols and ARs. No one could use the REQ stations for other than refilling ammo. Even more surprising is that no one quit from the game (both teams).
It forced teams to kill the AI quickly, as you gain points and their weapons. Also it forced players into more CQC situations. You couldn’t hang back and use long range weapons since there were none. Plus in the end the point difference between teams was minimal. It wasn’t a blow out and it was really fun.

I miss BTB Heavies. I’ve had waaayyyy more fun playing it in previous Halo games than Warzone/Warzone Assault.
Regular BTB is already getting the shaft so I would probably be a little disappointed.

Imagine that…

This is true.
It’s not warzone if you remove the reqs, you remove the reqs, you remove the load outs, and you remove player choice, and I’d argue it then ruins the chaotic fun that is warzone.
war zone without Reqs would be BTB and 100x better than the cash cow it currently is. I especially hated it because they completed shafted BTB for this mode and system as well as unlocks and armor customization…

Except it wouldn’t really get shafted if war zone never existed to begin with.

I disagree on the principal that I just don’t find war zone fun at all. Throwing power weapons at everyone and just running around like headless chickens isn’t my idea of fun.
BTB maps need to be bigger, because of the movement /sprint and BR, or they should switch to pistol starts.
That would be much better than current one.

You’re right. It’s not Warzone, hence the improvement. Limitation breeds creativity. When you give people a never ending supply of overpowered weapons that are easy to use and have ridiculous range and you let them effectively call in as many vehicles as they want whenever they have “the energy,” that player choice becomes meaningless. Power weapons and vehicles are like participation ribbons. They’re disposable and easy to dispose of. Everyone has one, so who cares? And why do they have them? Because they got them in a random card pack. There is no challenge. There are minimal meaningful resources you need to earn or control in the game itself. People immediately switch to their easier, longer range loadout weapons, which de-emphasizes shooting skill and discourages movement. Just look at the large swathes of every map that see minimal action. Why? Because there is no incentive to go there. The whole game revolves around the REQ station locations, with occasional deviations for the bullet sponge bosses.
I could go on at length about the problems I have with the loadouts and REQs in Warzone. It is not an improvement for Halo. It’s just a worse version of Halo 4. Then again, what you call “chaotic fun,” I would refer to as “a chaotic mess,” so we clearly have a very different outlook on this issue.

Exactly. When I play war zone the enemy team always seems to have 3 tanks at any given time. Meanwhile I use one tank and 2-3 people immediately grab lasers and blow me to hell.
Not exactly fun, especially when you dont have the reqs or certs to destroy tanks easily yourself.

Well the mode would actually be balanced without the pointless REQ system…the only problem left is things like the over-use of power weapons and annoying things like flinch and well soon as REQ goes then it becomes more about skill instead of who can waste money on REQ packs to cheat…yes I see REQ packs mostly as ways to cheat.
