What if thurster packs could make you go up

It would be good is thurster pack ability could make you go up, because in the actual
Game it mean you can doge worthoges my thruster packing up and over the worthog and do ground pound on it that would pretty awesome , you also could use it get up in higher places .

First off it would be difficult to control thrusting up, when all other buttons are already used for moving in different directions.
Second, it would completely destroy map flow, since now you can jump, thrust upwards, and clamber to get on ledges previously blocked off.

Then it would be called a “jetpack”

While I believe Spartans can now Turkey-Climb walls, I don’t believe it adds much to the combat at hand as one must face the wall, not opponent to do this.
Leads to too much not fighting OR literally a shooting gallery of unaware wall-climbers.

Now a map or level where that’s the vibe because the walls produce artificial gravity to traverse like we’re in Hogwart’s staircase “room”, OK. But not as an always present thing.

Yes it would be called jetpck but the thruster pack would only story you up for a couple of seconds

It would be easy to control because you could just make the controls a and b at the same time or it could be up on the de pad and b and the same time

That would be broken as it would allow you to use ground pound without needing to gain hight first.

It would make you more vulnerable and you would be in the for long time if you use both at the same time

I dislike the whole idea. It would make melee fighting a bull fighting match and overall it would add a new kind of straif that is impossible to counter. Going behind cover would be useless, like it was in Halo Reach and Halo 4.

Vehicles are likely 20x less effective as it is simply by giving every player the ability to thrust into or away from them at their leisure, but to allow players to get above everyone in a similar manner as Halo Reach and let them temporarily destroy everyone’s defenses like some kind of fairy god, absolutely not. Especially not for Wraiths and Scorpions.

Vehicles are already nerfed enough. Combat is already gimmicky enough.

A vertical double jump thruster capability would make complete sense given that Spartans now have thrusters. But maps and other gameplay mechanics have to be built around movement mechanics like these. Probably too late in development to add something as drastic as this. They could probably add a hold jump to glide/ stabilise/ decelerate a fall mechanic as opposed to having the stabilise feature attached to zoom, which is kind of weird, but that’s about it.

It would be easy to implement and control. Press A twice… the Problem is that it would make ground pound too powerful… You would be able to do it anywhere and its supposed to be move of a situational ability.

I find that would be a gamebreaking mechanic and it would be essentially a jet pack. It would also lead to people exploiting ledges etc.

What if you could put the jet pack or what ever you want call it for only ground pound matches

Vehicles are much faster tho

It would be like smarte scoping in the air but plus a ground pound

Quite simply it would be a double jump, proving a quick vertical boost before returning to the ground. I’m surprised it wasn’t in the game already. And a simple way to avoid exploiting it with ground pound is to disable ground pound on a double jump, as you have already used your thrusters for height, they would be on cooldown and prevent using your thrusters to perform a ground pound. Sounds pretty simple to me.

It could work - there are plenty of great shooters with double jump. But you’d have to take it into account while designing the maps and other gameplay features. Too late now.
