what if the conflict wasn't resolved anytime soon

this is regarding cortana and the created. now I know it makes a lot more sense to finish off this part of the timeline in one or two games each directly after each other in the timeline. and I honestly would like to do it that way anyways especially if it comes around to the logic plague theory, but I had a random “what if” thought and wanted to know how this would sit with the rest of the community.
so, what if the unsc doesn’t defeat cortana in the next game and she takes control of the galaxy. then say we get a game or some books or what ever that take place about 30-50 years later with a new character who rises up against cortana along side small rebellion factions. like someone who has spartan genes passed down to him or something. and by this point the technology would probably be pretty advanced. if this is what happened how would you respond and if you like the idea how would you like it to play out?

So kind of like the Gears of award 4 route?
It could work; it would certainly suggest something fresh and unexpected for the series. For it to work, though, we’d need satisfactory resolution with the Chief. Otherwise I don’t think the fans would accept a new character taking the spotlight.

I think that for the integrity of the story, if Cortana isn’t defeated soon, none of the survivors will be able to defeat her at all without direct intervention from the Precursors/Flood. The Forerunner technology which Cortana has already secured is just too powerful for anything the organic races could muster.

I also don’t think it would be received well for the franchise to just say, “here’s a whole new cast of characters replacing the ones you already like, now care about them.”

I’m hoping Halo 6 brings the Infinity to the Ark, reunites them with the Spirit of Fire, resolves the Banished, and through exploration of the Ark, gives our heroes the information they need to know that they can stop Cortana once and for all by shutting down the Domain from Maethrillian. Then Halo 7 would pick up with them enacting that plan, and culminate with Cortana’s destruction (which would be the perfect opportunity to retire Master Chief, because if anything would make him resign, it would be having to personally destroy Cortana).

We already know she fails as we have events from the timeline in the future already known to us. She’ll fall by 2560-something tops.

I mean 343 should extend H5’s story to H6 at least.
One of the biggest reason H5 failed was the disconnect it had with H4.
Personally, I want this Created arc to be over soon because they appeared for like, 3 missions, you can’t have a compelling antagonist when you set up the antagonist in 3 mission and expect the fandom to accept, “Now they’re gonna rule the galaxy, love them.”
I want 343 to end the Created arc because stuff like the Banished, Covenant remnants are arguably more interesting than “computers use technology to fight humans”

Most likely (judging by Halo 5) they’re going to chicken out of their original plan for the Created (whatever that may be) and cut it as short as possible. For better or worse.
