Now I’m sure that most of you are generally familiar with current state of Halo: Escalation, the main part of this consisting of the Didact’s once again not-so-evident fate.
Now on that note a lot of people have put forward the idea that perhaps the Didact was composed and became a Promethean King of sorts. What if… the machine we saw in the E3 trailer was this very same character, only mechanized?
Personally I think the Mendicant Bias theory fits rather well, but this certainly seems to be valid now, especially the more I think about it, considering the Didact’s uncertain face and the coloration of the machine(remember Mendicant Bias was supposed to be green), as well as the purported Master Chief/Didact/Bornstellar geas (perhaps chief is seeking out his forebear. Perhaps it’s both!

I’ve seen this theory pop up a lot the last month, but I can’t find any source for it. Do you have a link to where I can read up on it? Personally I feel it is highly unlikely that Johns has a geas that is Ur-Didact or Iso-Didact. I do believe however that he has a geas.
Also I really do hope that the big eagle in the trailer was just the animation teams using their artistic license. That machine looks to much like a bird, it feels kind of cheap.
It’d be cool if Mendicant Bias has a part in the Saga, I have to read up on what happened to him after the Forerunner-Flood War.

The Machine is likely a War Sphinx or Seeker. Mendicant was buried underneath the sands of the ark until he is needed again should the flood return. It also seems like he sent John to Requiem.

As a bit of an update, apparently OXM stated that the Didact is confirmed to appear in Halo 5: Guardians at some point in the narrative – this only seems to further corroborate the theory.
