What if shield/sprint mechanic was flipped?

Ok so me and a friend talking about how many 1 shots we’re leaving cos people can just sprint away from a fight.

So what if instead of shields not recharging while sprinting, you can’t sprint without full shields?

It would make an enemy either stay committed to a fight or at the very least make it require more skill to escape. It would also help with map control/objective gametypes by allowing us to hold a team in an area by getting shots into them.

Thoughts?

Edit: It would also help nerf the sword! You’d still have the thruster pack and the extended lunge with ads, but you wouldn’t be able to sprint straight at someone from across the map.

No.

Escape is a viable tactic, kill times are already very quick.

Escape has always been a viable tactic, so why not make it require more skill? You’ll still have the thruster pack to make it easier than any previous Halo.

Kill times are a whole other debate.

This is an interesting idea actually. Would you suggest if even the shields are damaged that sprint is disabled or when you’re out of shields? I think this is a viable idea if they decrease kill times too. I don’t think they will do this though.

cant sprint without full shields and make shields a little stronger and that’s a great idea

I dont think sprint would be a huge issue if it wasn’t unlimited. that is what I am having a problem with. Boost is tied to the battery so you can’t spam it. Sprint should be tied to it also. So then Sprint becomes a tactic instead of a game speed. Do I sprint around the map exposing my self to get shot int he back then have sprint run out and be a sitting duck, or do I use it to try to evade when someone gets a drop on me. Now if someone gets a drop on me do I boost and use my battery, or do I try and Run?

I still have a hard time understanding why sprint is unlimited.

Agree. Damaged shield’s = No sprint.

Perfect kill times are indeed fast you are correct.

The Average kill times however are probably a good 3-4 seconds above the perfect kill times which is awful. Escape is only a viable tactic when you properly position yourself to escape prior to engaging in a battle. Sprint allows you to escape far to easily and always will, the only way to truly balance sprint is to have even faster kill times and to go back to a class type system like Halo 4 where players have abilities (Like Jetpack, and Promethian Vision) that give them the advantage over the person running away.

The problem if we do that then the people who say we are playing Call of BattleHalo:Titan’s Destinty are 100% correct.

Good idea, I like it.

That still doesn’t solve everything, getting away isn’t the only problem sprint causes. Holding down sections of the map still become less important because players can sprint back quickly after re-spawn. It isn’t in the Beta yet but in CTF you are able to sprint to the flag carrier, giving the team who was just killed and having their flag pulled even more of an advantage than the 3v4 situation they are already in. Sprint overall is just terrible for all objective gametypes in Halo, it does even more damage than sit does to slayer.

But as soon as u get shots into them, like 1 bullet, they can’t sprint. And they’re being shot at. Thus making it possible to hold down sections of maps without the other team just sprinting through fire.

I know it doesn’t, it just the third best thing.

Best, 1 movement speed, 2. is Counter stike movement speed.
