Purposly made AAs suck because, they were prototypes at the time, and there a lot better because they have been in development longer. Also what if bungie made reach suck to give Halo 4 a chance, halo reach could have been great,i honestly think i could write a better story for it.
They didn’t purposely make them suck in hopes that 343i would take it up and improve them, Bungie probably didn’t even know about 343 Industries making Halo 4 at the time of Reach’s development.
Bungie would not sabotage their swan song on purpose.
> i honestly think i could write a better story for it.
Oh yeah, let me see your credentials then.
Let’s see your story then, Op.

This thread was a joke apart from the part where i said i think i could have made a better story.

343 has been working on Halo 4 since 2009, Bungie still had the rights then. I think they knew.

Oh good then, cause i was gonna start ranting. Yes i do agree, bungie could have given reach a better and deeper and more canonical story.
It would take to long to post, but i would make half of it follow the cheif and the other half follow Noble 6. i don’t think reach handled the team of spartan aspect proporly or the parts when you feel a lone i would work more on those for noble 6 and id work on building the cheif and have an ending for master cheif and noble 6.
Bungie has too much love for their baby to do something like that to something called halo.
> Bungie has too much love for their baby to do something like that to something called halo.
They put their baby up for adoption.
They were just trying to innovate something in Halo and just completely implemented those features poorly.
Are you saying Reach sucked because of AA’s?
Reach is a pretty good game. Sure some people take issue with AA and bloom but it’s still Halo. It had the widest variety of gametypes to-date, a pretty epic forge mode that was leaps and bounds above H3’s, and an insanely in-depth Firefight mode. Taken all together, Reach was certainly deserving of the “Halo” franchise.

Alrighty, get working on it. Until you actually have something to show us, you can’t go around saying you can honestly do something better. You also might want to learn how to spell ‘Chief’ while you’re at it, something tells me that’s going to be important if you’re going to have half the story follow him.
Now off to work with you, you have a story to write.

No im not saying reach sucked because of AAs. They deffinently weren’t implemented well, and there was bloom and a whole bunch of other probolems a long with a story that didn’t really have characters you cared for other then jorge.they talked about bringing the scariness of the Covanent back but they really didn’t they were stale, the AI’s could have been a lot better to make them more vicious like the war on reach was supposed to be. and could have really given you the feeling you were losing by a lot and expanded on feeling like you were in a team instead of just some other AIs to fight with and when your a lone it should really give the player the feeling of being a lone the story could of had a lot more emotion.

I kind of disagree on a few points. I’d also like to add my own.
1)Firefight was nothing but a credit-farming playlist. ODST had a better Firefight, in my opinion, because it was about survival. That’s not true in Reach. It’s about racking up as many points as possible with Power Weapons and gaining credits. ODST used teamwork to survive; Reach lacks this.

Certain gametypes weren’t available at launch (Alpha Zombies) or aren’t there today (VIP) that many enjoyed greatly. In fact, Custom games pretty much died in Reach. VIP was the backbone of a lot of great gametypes. When they took that away, a lot of great games could not be replicated from Halo 3: Assassinate the President, Asset, etc.

Forge could only really be experienced in Forge World. It was all gray, gray, gray. Most of the maps we play on are Forge maps, with he same pallet over and over again.
-
I hate what they did to Theater. Watching a clip with my friends was awesome. Now I can’t do it. Thanks Bungie.
-
A lot of the AAs weren’t balanced. AA and the Medic Shield are prime examples.
As to the OP:
I don’t think Bungie intentionally sabotaged Reach. I just think they were ready to move on, and didn’t really give it their all because they were forced to make another Halo game due to contract obligations, not because they wanted to.
> Bungie has too much love for their baby to do something like that to something called halo.
Really?? Go pull up asylum and run to the ramps that lead up to sniper hut. On one side of the map the ramp is even with the hut and the other its uneven and you kinda “bump” before you go down it. That, my friend is laziness. I could go on to comment how lazily they implemented their version of armor abilities and didn’t balance them at all, or how they took the “bloom” aspect from Shadowrun and made it fail. But I won’t, cause there have been thousands of threads talking about that.
To say that Bungie cared about their baby is completely wrong. They hurried the game out so they could stop making Halo games and move on to something else. Lazily implemented game systems were all thrown into Reach and together they failed. Bungie didn’t care to do anything to make their “baby” better either cause if they “cared” they would have released a TU. 343i had to do that for them, cause they didn’t want to waste the money that would go into fixing that stupid game.
11-6-12 cannot get here sooner so I can shake the horrible feeling of Reach off me and start to play a game that is balanced, consistent, and fun. Three things that Reach was not.

Its almost 3 in the morning and i haven’t slept right for about 3 weeks a few spelling errors aren’t that big of a deal. And that was my way of getting my point across that reach s story wasn’t great and given what it was based off of it could have been a lot better.Read my other post about why reach could have been better.
Did Bungie want the game to suck? No. If they really wanted to move on, people would’ve quit out before they do development and join other studios or make their own if they were not willing to commit another 3 or so years of their lives around building a game they don’t want to make.
Did Bungie’s ideas work as much as we all hoped for? Yes to some, no to others.
And that’s all I want to talk about on that subject.
