What if John lands on Halo Zeta instead of float in space during 6 months?

What if John didn’t float in space during 6 months after Atriox fight but land on Halo Zeta the first day ? Here’s what I think would have happened :

  • John wakes up on the Halo and heads to the Silent Auditorium to stop Cortana, but without air transport, he doesn’t have time to reach the Silent Auditorium until Cortana destroys it with Atriox in it.
  • During the next weeks, John brings UNSC survivors together on the Reveri
  • Then, John retrieves the Weapon and decides not to delete her
  • At some point, John lead a team with Spartan Griffin to eliminate Escharum and suceed
  • Without a chief, the Banished fight each other, but they remain a dominant force on the ring. Humans and Banished fight for control of the ring without knowledge of the Eternal

Eh. Frankly I like the idea of the Forerunners having a “Dirty Little Secret” like the Xalanyn, who (now that they are released) have a reason to burn it all down.

We’re in time travel now, due to the “Weapon” being upgraded or whatever.
I’d like to see a Cortana redemption arch, instead of crappy little ghost memories stored in thin air that have some poignant and seemingly deep concept of AI being able to predict John-117 so well that Cortana literally left voice messages for him to make her feel bad for her while uploading God knows what to the Weapon, that can now seemingly move through time in one direction.

It’s not going to be long before that travel is into the past…

Did Cortana leave John-117 out in space for 6 years knowing that he would only be another variable she would have to worry about?

Cortana can literally predict John-117 to a t (so much so that she left messages for him that felt like real conversations, which seemed to be trying to sway John-117 to feeling pity on all the bad things Cortana did).

Cortana is the equivalent of the G-Man in Half Life, some extra dimensional being that seemingly “deploys” people at the right time. Could John-117 be being used by the UNSC to “occupy” Cortana with another variable so that whatever is going on outside of the Halo Universe as we know it is not interfered with by Cortana?

There’s a lot of unexplored storylines and “alternate timelines” has been done to death…

What if the Spartan at the end of Halo: Reach didn’t die? What if Cortana/Weapon went back in time and saved the Spartan/Spartan team that help start it all for her from the fate the befell them.
