What if it was flipped?

What if instead of having a classic playlist their wasn’t sprint in regular playlists, but there were a few sprint playlists as well. So the anti-sprints can feel happier with the game.

Or… How about they make a friggin’ custom games playlist so you don’t have to invite people? I dream of a time when hosting a custom games lobby, actually means you are ‘hosting’ a custom games lobby. Yunno, so randoms get sent to your game when they enter the playlist.

Yes… But then pro-sprinters aren’t happy.

Do not flame/attack others.

But most “pro-sprinters” and casuals don’t even know they’re “pro-sprint” until it becomes a topic of conversation. That’s the thing.

And if they’re not 12 years old and/or have an IQ above ranch dressing, then they will understand and agree with you after you explain to them the overwhelmingly compelling reasons why sprint is BAD for Halo and CAN NOT truly be balanced.

No one EVER played CE, H2, or H3 in thier primes and said “Man, you know what this game needs? SPRINT”. Never. And if you did you’re lying.

Although having a few sprint playlists is certainly better than basing the game around sprint and having a few NON-sprint playlists, the game needs to be the competitive out of the box. And to achieve that, everyone needs to be playing more or less the same settings. CE, H2, and H3 all did that and were all extremely successful. This is what allows the game to grow, especially competitively. Which in turn will attract more players overall.

People don’t seem to understand this.

Please don’t insult people. Makes you look really bad. Is it so hard to believe that some people actually like having sprint in Halo? Even people that grew up with Halo? Is it so hard to believe that?

As for the topic on hand. There will still be a divide. Only now people that enjoy sprint won’t be happy.

343 ha no intention in doing a sprint free halo it’s simple as that accept it already. They will do everything to nerf it and make it likeable that because they know they will not remove it from their game. So they gave us the option to turn it off when we want to play “our” vision of halo which is classic halo.

So would this mean just the sprint being removed, or all the new spartan abilities as well? Cause it would be better to have “all or nothing-playlists” if the goal is to appease purists.

I’ll propably be relatively happy with the game as long as “simple balanced arena experience” stays as far away from the campaign as possible.

What’s the IQ of ranch dressing?

Well, if the situation is reversed and the people who enjoy sprint aren’t happy with it, that shows everyone that what classic fans are currently getting out of H5 isn’t adequate enough.

This sounds like a cool idea.

What I wish I could do is have access to the beta with tools to see what the game played like without sprint or abilites.

Why I never said halo 3 needed sprint why playin it. I always thought the game needed to be much faster. It to me felt so slow compared to halo 2.

You’re making a lot of generalizations and assumptions. People like you continue to be the worst part of this community. Your opinion is not superior to everyone else’s. Of course the reasons why people dislike sprint are compelling to people who dislike sprint. It’s also entirely possible that some people who are apathetic to the mechanics could be convinced by them. That doesn’t make it an inherently compelling argument and it doesn’t make your position more valid than anyone else’s. In contrast, your apparent need to talk down to everyone who disagrees accomplishes the exact opposite. Age and IQ have nothing to do with this conversation, though your puerile behavior and apparent inability to comprehend the nature of subjectivity suggests that both of those numbers would be pretty low in your case.

Then how would 343i balance it so that both sides get what they want? The only way I see it is having an equal amount of playlists for both sides.

Every single ability I’ve ever seen in a Halo game came after I’ve heard people say “you know what would be cool?”, and yes, that includes sprint.

This would make me so happy. Some kind of Forge/Custom Games matchmaking playlist with search filters. This needs to happen.

And that failed, best not to repeat an expireriment that failed miserably twice, right?

This topic has been argued to death, but I’m going to ask: if every new mechanic brought to Halo has failed, then what else is there to add? Why make sequels if there is no room for change/improvement on the original formula?

Halo 5 is precisely that- the 5th titled game (6th main game) in a series. If nothing new comes to the table, then there is no need for additional things that are the same (maps, basically) to be anything moe than add-ons. Even the original 3 made changes that players didn’t like, although they didn’t have so much to turn a majority away (though they also had significantly less dire t competition).

What can they add? This might as well be a Halo 6 or ideal Halo topic. The trinity was “perfected” as purists see it (some, at least). While some viewed the games differently (3 is praised for the very reasons that I liked 2 better for not having, like projectiles that were far less accurate than the hits can model), others think the new games as being something completely different.

If you want a spiritual successor to Halo, it would be far better to join the purist community in a new project than bash a project that has been in development for years and is less than a year from release. Look at Bio-shock vs System Shock 2. Although people hated that case that were older fans for feeling like a rip off. So there is always going to be a group divided.

It’s not about appeasing purists. It’s about having a competitive game. The competitive people aren’t purists. That’s a huge misconception. People thing that because people don’t want sprint, they want a H:CE/2/3 clone. That’s not the case. There are people who do, but people really just want a competitive, out of the box, game. CE was the only game that had the fewest changes. That’s one reason to use it as a milestone. Literally the only change was remove radar and use AR/Pistol starts. Not PP starts.

Everyone wants to have the most competitive Halo game. That means the game is the most fair and everyone is happy. It can still be played casually and it looks like the exact same game in tournaments as in matchmaking. Sprint completely destroys the majority of the competitiveness for many reasons that have been explained multiple times in the past 5 years since Reach came out. So unless HCS adopts the No-Sprint playlists, then it’s not going to be as big as it could be. Bottom line. We all know 343 is going to use Vanilla settings for all playlists at launch. That has been their focus to try and attract more people to the competitive side, but the competitive side will suffer because vanilla H5 isn’t going to be the most competitive settings possible for the game. Plain and simple. Competitive H5 is going to be a joke.

Lolll if you think the community can make halo 5 competive your underestimating it. This is the first halo game where ppl actualy want to use more than two guns (BR, DMR) and actualy still be good. Competive halo 5 =/= competive halo 2 or 3 that’s a given. With all the mechanics some ppl will call it over complicated for know reasons. I for one am bumped for the extra layers. If ppl were able to be competive with ONE non power weapon worth using (halo 2) than they can turn this game competive. Does not mean it will be your type of competive and it doesn’t have to be.

That wouldn’t solve anything, think about how annoying if a fan wanted to play something like BTB whilw it had or didn’t have sprint then either way it would affect someone.
