What if Halo went the doom route and had gore?

Big name FPS series, Halo, Battlefield, Call of Duty, etc don’t have gore like their older counterparts like Quake and Unreal Tournament. Doom’s gore and executions seems to be it’s selling point to set itself apart from those AAA games. What if Halo had over-the-top Hollywood gore and gibs?

A sniper headshot will take off a spartan’s head.
A direct hit from a tank will turn a spartan into a firework of blood and body parts.
A plasma stick would blow off limbs.
I’m sure there’s more examples to think about, what do you think? Does it have a place in Halo? Or will the art direction feel too gimmicky?

that would be a really cool thing to put in the game but I doubt 343 will ever do it since it will mean the age limit will have to go up meaning all the 12+ kids won’t be able to play it.

on a side note I would like to see flood come back, they were fairly gruesome in the way the spores infected the dead bodies and the captain Keyes terminal scene was also gruesome

Wouldn’t matter too much to me, it sort of makes sense either way blood and gore or not, in the way it is now you can simply call it off as a simulation, if you wanted more indepth stuff I’d say it wouldn’t rip off a limb just because of the undersuit being able to hold you together despite you being shot, as for the blood you could say its from the biofoam that would seal your wound but even if you’re dead its sealed so no blood

“That’s not Halo.”

um so literally the setting of multiplayer is a simulation. Also these spartan armors are tough they wont rip to shreads easily. Tell me once you’ve seen a armor destroyed. doom and the rest is a real battle ground. I dont think palmer would want them to kill each other, especially because spartans are rare, and expensive

That’s not why I Halo. I hate the Flood, and I find them more annoying than those damn Watchers sometimes. We spent three games dealing with destructible corpses; desecration has no place in Halo anymore.

No 12 years old= No trolling. No trolling= No fun. No fun= Not halo.

They’d have to toss the “T for Teen” rating out the window which would limit the amount of hands that 343i could get H5 into.

They’d also probably lose their Esports deal; gore isn’t something that you can just televise on a Sports Channel.

Gore would be nice. Amd the way they did glory kills where your kill cant be stolen, but you can still die for assasinations.

Blood and gore, mmmmmm, would love the option to have it, like Gears and other titles do, let’s be honest, a Spartan smacking a marine in the face would be messy, it would probably rip his head clean off.

I would love to decapitate a Spartan with an Energy Sword.

Gears of War?
Mortal Kombat?

Impaling a spartan with an energy sword is not enough?.. Yeah this game is somehow rated T for teens… Its just the removal of blood, then this game would have rated M,

Says that Gears and MK are not with Esports however Doom is so that argument can still stand

Plus more than a few players (like Huke from Enigma6) who compete would not be allowed to due to age restrictions.

Do they televise Gears of War? Or Mortal Kombat? I don’t mean streaming; Esports now has a slot on ESPN.

Yup, and they could make it like Gears etc with the option to turn off gore.

Maybe not that gory, but I would like the blood splatter back.

Idk, I haven’t followed Gears in a while, but it had quite a eSports following for Gears 1.

Mortal Kombat has a massive eSports following at tourneys like EVO.
