Forge mode in Halo Wars 2, allowing players to create their own maps for 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 Scenarios.
Imagine having the ability to recreate some of your favorite maps from Halo Wars 1, some maps from other RTS games, or your own custom designs in order to have more fun in HW2?
Good idea, although an update in general would of been nice, always wanted to play HW2, as demo kept crashing on my series s iv’e not bothered buying it, kind of shocking the price of it still high, series s/x update would be grand
If HALO WARS 2 makes a large update,
I think Forge Mode is the ideal update.
With infinitely created maps and randomly selected forge maps, you will always be able to play with a fresh feeling. Fort Jordan looks just like that.
If it gets it, it will be HALO WARS 3.
Six years have passed since HW2 was released.
I hope there will be an HW2 Definitive edition.
I feel your pain.
One of my Xbox friends wants to play HW2 with us but the game keeps on crashing him out whenever we try and load in on a match. The load screen takes forever and then when it does load, the game registers him as in the game, but destroys his base and boots him out to the main menu.
Forge or just a simple map/mode editor and fileshare for HW Customs would be awesome
HW2 needs a big update on all platforms anyways, something like this would be a great opportunity. And a steam release pls
Because more player population (if they make it crossplay to the windows store version and/or xbox) and also because every other halo game besides H5 is on steam as well, people may buy it there again to have their collection completed
Theres dozens of threads on steam at HW1 and MCC with hundreds of replies asking for H5 and HW2.
Also its not like 343 has to do much development for that (bedises the crossplay part), just take a build of the game and load it on the steam servers
Granted yes, not much development effort needs to be done.
But it is also a matter of getting VALVe to agree to put another game on their publishing software and working out what cut they get of the profits.
I think it also has something to do with the microtransactions being loot-boxes in HW2 and H5G. I don’t think it is pure coincidence that the only two major Halo games not on steam are the one with a raffle-loot-box system.

Theres a lot of games with microtransactions on steam, including Halo Infinite. Sure, it may be different for lootboxes, but theres also a lot of games with lootboxes on steam, so that shouldnt be that much of a problem.
Also valve has their set scheme for what share of game/ingame sales they get and i think theyre glad for every game they can make money off of, and so is 343/MS for sure
I might have to dig around in Steam’s publishing policies, but perhaps Microsoft or 343 do not want to split revenue of a lootbox system to the percentage of split that Steam’s licencing requires?
Yeah maybe
Anyway, with the current situation 343 should use any opportunity to make fast money with Halo and putting HW2 on steam is a great one. And also a step towards giving the game some much needed support sometimes in the future

Thats just microtransactions. And since Infinite has microtransactions as well and is on steam, i doubt thats a reason for them to not put this game on steam
