How would you respond to the idea that Halo Infinite has every weapon that’s ever existed in the games, all with their aim assist, bullet magnetism and hitscan/projectile tuned to make them the very best version of said weapons? The different variants of the same weapon would just be melted into a single version, like all of the different Magnum variants across the games being turned into one trusty and strong sidearm that kills faster than any other gun in the game, but is incredibly challenging to master. Essentially, you have a huge sandbox for players to play with, which segments into my next question…
How would you feel if Halo Infinite had three different playlists selections that catered to the different experiences Halo has had over the years? One playlist that emulates classic gameplay, with equipment. One playlist that emulates Armor Ability Halo, with all of the AAs becoming finely tuned and balanced for one another. And finally, one playlist that emulates Spartan Ability Halo, with all of the movements also finely tuned similar to the AAs. The one playlist selection that would share all of these would be an unranked Team Slayer playlist, with a veto option. And let’s just say that the maps that came with the game also include Forge maps, except the new Forge is so powerful that a talented forger could make a map look like a dev map.
I’d like to know your opinion on this, because the MCC is mostly a nostalgia bin for people to hop in and enjoy the games they knew. But Infinite could potentially be a game where they make the best version of Classic, Armor Ability, and Spartan Ability Halo all in one game
Whenever you have time, I’d love to read your response.
Frankly, I believe the sandbox team can use their time better than creating and balancing a ton of redundant weapons. I’d actually rather want to see a sandox shrunk down from Halo 5, but where every included weapon actually serves a unique purpose and feels memorable. Generally speaking, what I’d like to see is a game that delivers a focused gameplay experience that knows what it wants to be. The last thing I’d want to see is something that tries to shove the past 17 years of Halo into one game.
I could see the game having older weapons if it fits with the story, but I agree with tsassi that I don’t want the main game’s sandbox to be bloated. For your weapon tuning, trying to make the best version is what they should always be trying to do, but unfortunately, I don’t think they’ll take the risk to do it. If they really wanted to make the best iterations, the weapons would be more in line with CE aside from the needler. It would be a slim sandbox with each weapon having a unique role and even unique features and a few of them would be hard to be good with like the utility weapon pistol and sniper. It’s very clear though that 343 would rather make almost all of the weapons easier to use so even Timmy no thumbs can shoot like a god.
The playlist selection idea sounds like a waste of time to be honest. The only one that sounds interesting is the classic playlist, but I’d rather they not bother if it’s just going to be one playlist. The other two with abilities is just redundant considering how similar they are and Infinite’s gameplay will likely already have abilities in it so there wouldn’t be a point of having a playlist like that.
I think it would be really cool to see the majority of weapons and vehicles return in Halo Infinite. Doing this would make the game feel a lot more unique if the guns had their different strengths in campaign and firefight.
As long as the Master Chief Collection exists I don’t see any reason for any new Halo title to have a “classic” anything. Why go through the trouble of making a new game play like an old one when the old game is still there and the developer went through great pains already to have the old games playable on the latest equipment. What’s the advantage of having anything “classic” except maybe to make certain no one ever plays the actual old games any more?
At the time Halo Infinite takes place there are a ton of weapons and variants, many of which we have only heard about and not actually had the pleasure of using in a game, especially at the FPS level. I am all for having access to everything considered “current” for the time period Infinite takes place. I don’t see any place for Halo CE era weapons, unless we’re going to be playing against Insurrectionists that might still be using the UNSC’s old, discarded junk. I can’t see anyone choosing to use a CE magnum if they can have the latest one, even if the CE magnums were littering the ground.

If the CE magnum offered some type of advantage or unique feature over the current one, then I could definitely see people picking it up. It shouldn’t matter what the weapon is or what game it came from as long as it fits into the current sandbox as a viable weapon. Your point would be more believable if the CE magnum was the same or worse than the current pistol, but this is all hypotheticals at this point.
That would be sick. I’d like them to remove all the weapon variants from H5 and just have one version of each weapon and vehicle in Halo Infinite. Take the Railgun for instance, it has 3 variants, regular, whiplash, and arclight. Arclight is way to OP but the regular railgun takes too long to charge. So just use the whiplash charge and 2 shot magazine, then it’s perfect. Do that for all H5 variants, plus adding all missing weapons and vehicles and that would be so sick.
I’m not sure how practical it would be for the campaign, but Forge should offer everything ever. By that I mean every weapon and vehicle that has appeared in any Halo game, including Halo Wars Spartan Assault/Spartan Strike. I think Spartans should be able to pick up Kig Yar shields and use them, just as they have done in the books. Elephants and all their variants. Same for Pelicans. I want to fly a Vulture. Bring on the Scarabs.
Don’t forget every vehicle ever. I’d also love to see vehicles that we’ve seen in the past, but which were previously unplayable. The Shadow, for instance. That would be amazing, in my opinion.
Since this was brought back, imagine having to balance all of that while putting all kinds of different weapons onto the same maps. It sounds like a nightmare. That was the beauty of Warzone because they could just dump whatever out there idea they had for a weapon without having to worry too much about how it would affect the game outside of what REQ level it should be.
