What if Halo 5 was the first Halo in the series. Meaning Halo 1-4 etc, never existed. Would you still feel the same way about Halo 5 as you do now? Most negative things I read about Halo 5 are based on comparisons to previous titles. Just curious if people would still have the same ideas if those previous titles never existed. An example would be sprint, would you still hate it in the game?
Edit: On the flip side, it would be one of the only games with free DLC and content updates… You couldn’t say those should’ve been in the game already because previous Halo’s had it.
The only real problem people would have with the game would still have been lack of content and lackluster campaign.
I had thought about this very question, what if Halo 5 was not a Halo title or the start of the franchise, would it receive the same criticism. It’s obvious the first three titles and even 4 were major reasons why H5 has had some serious backlash, but outside of the mechanic changes, the bugs and lack of overall content would still doom this title.
No, because they would have established the franchise that way, it’s what the Franchise would have been built from. But I also it would have have lower sales still because they arent banking on an established franchise to sell “reverse engineered” mechanics that don’t fit within the genre of the game.
But Halo 5 isn’t the first in the franchise, and it has only surface level links to Halo 1-3 in terms of gameplay, and it is proven trend in the gaming industry, that severely changing the overall gameplay is disliked. Doom Multiplayer, Metal Gear Survive and Resident Evil being some recent examples
If Halo 5 was the first then everyone complaining about sprint would love it…
If Halo 5 was the first in the franchise barely anybody would play this game, and there would be little to no chances for a sequel, ending in failure for the Halo brand.
If Halo 5 was first it would look like a worse version of Quake with the movement.
I mean, I don’t know, what if Halo 4 was the first?
The point is, it doesn’t matter because in each installment it’s been an improvement content wise, except up until the 343i games.
I probably wouldn’t even own it. On its own merits h5 is a lackluster, generic MP game with a terrible tacked in SP.
It would probably be dead within a month or two. A majority of people probably bought this game in part due to brand and halo 5 isn’t really an extraordinary game compared to ce to survive without its brand.
I’m not a big fan of twitch shooters where 3 assault rifle rounds kill someone, so I guess I might have stayed with Halo 5.
Better question is, how many ppl would have bought this w/o the previous titles. Personally, I pre-ordered due to reputation, Halo 6 is now a rental.
Well you wouldn’t have to deal with the nostalgia clingers

What would be your comparison for it, I feel like Overwatch lacks more content.

Compared to Overwatch and COD, it isn’t that bad from the things you mention above.

I was thinking the same thing for the most part.

Why would you say that, out of curiosity? What are your reasons?

It would be the only game on the market offering free monthly updates, that would attract people. If they had no comparisons to other Halo’s.

Would you be playing another first person shooter than, like COD?

What’s CE? You couldn’t comapre it to Combat Evolved.
