What if Halo 5 bombs worse than Halo 4?

What if?
I have faith in 343 and I’m sure i’ll enjoy Halo 5 just as much if not more than I enjoyed Halo 4.
But Halo 4 is considered the worst Halo game in the series my many. If Halo 5 bombs im sure most of the Halo community will keep playing Halo MCC.
But what will it mean for Halo 6?
Halo 4 wasn’t a bad game, but it was a bad Halo game.
If Halo 5 continues the trend, 343 will have no choice but to listen to the fans 100%.
They’ve already spoken about “going back to the roots”. Hopefully they make a classic style Halo game, but spartan abilities have me a bit worried.
If Halo 5 bombs, I think the community should push for a simple halo game like Halo 1, 2, 3 were.
no sprint, no abilities, etc.
Leave all the jazz to COD/Destiny/Titanfall.

Seems a bit early to be on the doomwagon. I’ve got my skepticism too, like everyone should going into a new game, but I want to see concrete details before even thinking about the future of Halo 6 is Halo 5 fails.

343 knows if Halo 5 isn’t liked, then that’s it for them. They took chances with Halo 4, and it backfired. Now, they know they’ll want to please the fans, and probably will remove what wasn’t liked. If they don’t then the company and the franchise are in danger, and 343 can’t let that happen. That’s why I have Halo 5 will be liked by the community. We’ll get what we asked for, or it’s gonna make things worse for 343.

Then Halo and 343i are done for.

Then people will just complain of how Halo 4 was better, just like they did with Reach when Halo 4 shipped and so on.

> Then people will just complain of how Halo 4 was better, just like they did with Reach when Halo 4 shipped and so on.

The perception of Reach wasn’t really improved all that much. Many of the same people who criticize Halo 4 also continue to criticize Reach. Some may say Reach was better and if they point to things like better Custom Game options, they’d be right. That said, most people hold 1-3 on a higher pedestal.

> Then people will just complain of how Halo 4 was better, just like they did with Reach when Halo 4 shipped and so on.

When? I hated reach back then and I hate reach just as much right now. The only reason why it seemed like people liked reach at all was because new kids who started on reach jumped on to the forums when Halo 4 started getting hyped.

If Halo 5 bombs, I’ll probably just stop following future Halo games. After all, I do have the original trilogy in MCC, which is really all I need for a long time.

I’m excited until I see something that makes me skeptical. I’ve enjoyed every Halo to date even if some were not as good as the others. The direction they are going story wise looks promising to be a solid story mode and I believe 343 will cater multiplayer to more of what the “majority” want. If it does “bomb” like Halo 4 maybe they consider a new studio at that point because there is no way Microsoft will lose/give up on Halo until it has been buried, resurrected, and finally killed with fire.

> Then Halo and 343i are done for.

Pretty much this. If it doesn’t closely match Halo 2’s near-impeccable design and memorableness, or at least try to emulate Halo 3, then I can say without a doubt all Halo fans (those from the Bungie days at least) will straight up abandon the series. Halo 4 did some seriously massive damage, so it’s going to take a lot to recover. If it does at all.

It’s a little too early to have a good or a bad opinion about H5 when we have seen pretty much nothing.
But if 343 plays their cards right, they will hit the jackpot.

> Then Halo and 343i are done for.

The franchise is not dependent on multiplayer, It’s always been about singleplayer with multiplayer as something secondary. Even if the multiplayer does do bad, the franchise will still keep going.

If they don’t deliver a proper Halo this time around, I’m sure Microsoft will disband them.
I will not buy it if I am not given proof that it will be a legit Halo, and I’m sure I’m not alone.
If the game isn’t legit, sales will not meet expectations of -Yoink!-, and -Yoink!- will act.

Halo 4 is a situation of “fool me once…”

Three words: aim-down-sights.

Hey, they put custom loadouts, sprint, flinch, and killstreak rewards in Halo 4. I wouldn’t put it past 'em.

Well when you put hyphens on those words it makes it into one word.

I’d cry if Halo had ADS.

I think we are in safe hands.

With the release of MCC. 343 are bringing classic back literally.

They have admitted the mistakes in H4. And I believe they will not make the mistake twice. I am sure no matter how great or bad H5 Guardians is. Your going to have haters and lovers.

Under the assumption that Halo 5’s population plummets into the abyss:

I think the future of Halo depends on two things, how well Halo: MCC does, the individual games in it, how well Halo 5 does in contrast to MCC and how well they get along while both are out.

If we go under the assumption that both “games” are failures, then i343 has a very steep hill to climb regarding Halo 6. Their chances with the majority of “the old community” are pretty much wasted I’d guess so they’d have to try to attract a new fanbase. Which would mean a potentially completely different game, unless they save that for the next trilogy of course.

If Halo: MCC does good in the long run and Halo 5 doesn’t, there’s a chance that i343 goes back to the original trilogy. But then again, we do not know if Halo 5 does that or not, so far from what little we’ve seen, it seems that it’s the case. They’ve looked at the original trilogy and added to it, Spartan Abilities for example.

There’s too much speculation to go through.

> If they don’t deliver a proper Halo this time around, I’m sure Microsoft will disband them.

Highly doubtful.

They’ve set in motion quite a lot regarding Halo so there won’t be an instant disbanding.

> They’ve already spoken about “going back to the roots”. Hopefully they make a classic style Halo game, but spartan abilities have me a bit worried.

Are we…
SERIOUSLY

STILL ON ABOUT SPARTAN ABILITIES?!?!?

SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?

OT: Then the majority of the old community will disband and move on, and a small new community will populate it enough that Microsoft funds Halo 6 and no other Halo Media.

Pls separate Halo 4 Multi AND Halo 4 Solo.
Your question should be ‘What if H5 Multiplayer suck more than the last’…

I played all Halo for the Solo, and the 4 was awesome. I agree that you guys don’t do just the solo, (and i will do the same if i had a console for more then 3 months). But to me 343 did a very good job on the 4, And say that the 4 is the worst of the series is totally false (if we do not think of the multi that gives you trouble).

Maybe this time that i have a console, i will try the multiplayer (even if i prefer FSP on PC), i’m waiting the game for his solo and I’m sure 343 did a great job

Anyway, if you don’t like it you still can play the H2A

I think the fact Halo CE and Halo 2 had been given another lease on life would make Halo future proof. Only if Guardians doesn’t pan out…

Only if.

Nothing. Well other then people tearing it to shreds and critisizing it like halo 4. Just like call of duty any game with halo in the title is going to sell well.

So if 5 tanks MP wise nothing will happen to mess with us to finish the saga. I for one really don’t care what happens to the MP. I’m more interested in the lore and story of the series now adays. Shooters in general bore me now. Even halo won’t change that.
