What if Halo 4 sucked?

Hypothetically speaking, what if Halo 4 were to turn out to be an awful game? I’m not just speaking about a game with a some flaws here-and-there and one which received fragmented/mixed opinions from Halo fans (kind of like how Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach did, especially). I’m talking about a game which would flat-out hated by the vast majority of halo fans, would be considered one of the most disappointing games of 2012, and one which would cost 343i a lot of time and money.

I Halo 4 were to suck, what would happen to 343i? Will production of the subsequent titles of the Reclaimer trilogy continue? And would you give 343i another chance to “win you back” after such a colossal failure? Please discuss.

But it won’t. I’m sure of it. :stuck_out_tongue:
I’ve seen enough gameplay footage, heard enough astounding feedback, and have the knowledge that 343i consists of some of the best individuals in the gaming industry to be confident that Halo 4 will be a game to remember and cherish.

Also, me having played Halo 4 at e3 does boost my confidence.

No matter how impressed you currently are with it, there is still a possibility that it will turn out to be a bad game.

It won’t but the scene from the end of Fanboys comes to mind.

Well, it’s all relative. Some might like t, some won’t. If people don’t like it, then they won’t play it. Simple as that.

Then that would be a shame because it’s possible that the trilogy will be suspended or delayed, which would suck because I like the fiction.

Hypothetically speaking: I’d give them another chance, but I certainly wouldn’t pre-order another game by them. I’d be a lot more skeptical of them and wait a bit before deciding whether or not to buy the next Halo game from them.

It’s somewhat pointless to have this line of thinking. Every single game that has ever been created, could have turned out to be a bad game. So what? If Halo 4 is a disaster, then the community will react when it happens. In the meantime it is more enjoyable to be optimistic and excited for a game than playing the “what if” game. What if our world really is the matrix, masking reality, where we are slaves to robots? This would be interesting to discover, but rather pointless, because it is a hypothetical scenario.

It’s only logical to refrain from passing ultimate judgement on a game yet to be released. Passing complete judgement on a game yet to be released is nonsensical, although it does make sense to judge what we currently think about it from what we’ve been told and have seen. However, there’s nothing wrong with hypothetical questions like you seem to suggest. Either for negative or positive outcomes, they often provide interesting discussions, and this could potentially heighten our views of what is at stakes for the Halo series.

All I’m asking is what you think, substantiated with evidence, past accounts, and personal opinion, what members of the forum think would happen if Halo 4 were to turn out for the worst. I’m not saying that it will, bit I’m saying that it could, and I wanted to hear what members would do and think would occur if that actually happened. Considering the fact that this is the Halo 4 forum, which welcomes discussion about Halo 4, there was nothing “pointless” about my questions.

Remember when Cortana asked John “What if you miss?”?

Same answer.

I would declare Frankie and Jessica to be the most vile of the Heretics and demand that they answer for their crimes against the holy relic.

It can’t suck. Microsoft and 343 have invested too much money and time into this series. It’s one of the few Xbox FPS exclusives we have. To much is riding on Halo for it to fail.

Well Duke Nukem Forever was “in development” for 15 years and it still sucked pretty bad.

The campaign? the forge? The fifty free Spartan Ops mission?

I doubt they could ALL suck.

I’ll buy a PS3.

it would be the downfall of xbox
but it wont happen so yeah

long live the halo

The outcome seems pretty simple, if people aren’t interested in the game, they lose interest and move on to other things. The chance of this actually happening is pretty slim, people have had the chance to play multiplayer and that seems pretty solid, fans are pretty happy with the early multiplayer build. We still haven’t seen much of campaign or Spartan Ops and their related stories. But even if campaign and Spartan Ops don’t deliver, there will always be multiplayer.

Note: He was joking. It didn’t actually spend all 15 years in development.
