what if Halo 4 reclaims the throne?

Just thinking, wouldn’t it be hilarious if halo 4 drops and the changes and everything about the gameplay works so incredibly well, that it reclaims the fps throne. I know there will be flames for even entertaining something, but yeah, I hope it does. I hope somehow, that all the AAs are tweaked to where it actually does feel like an ok addition. As unlikely as it sounds, I do hope that it ends up being insanely “perfect”.

It won’t.

From the info we have I personally think its unlikely but stranger things have happened.

Somebody get this kid a damn beer, I’m buying!! Thank you kind sir for representing hopeful fans.

so you’re hoping it wont?

Hope hes not underage lol j/ks but yes Halo 4 will be awesome

If 343i impliments these things right…

It honestly has a shot, believe it or not. The reason CoD got so popular and toppled the throne was because, by Mw4 they’d gotten their “CoD” Formula just right. It had an interesting campaign with solid gameplay that was different from Halo’s. It raised eyebrows, and low and behold when MW2 came out the horde was unleashed and people swooped to the CoD franchise.

Now CoD’s been milked for several games and the gamers who play it are starting to crave something else. They still play it, but they aren’t near as happy and addicted (at least all the CoD players I know- and trust me, I’ve known some people who damn near played the game with reverence). If Halo 4 does things right, it could topple CoD like CoD did in the wintering days of Halo 3.

I certainly would love to see it happen. Let’s hope 343i’s really implimenting these changes in revolutionary ways. I already like how Frankie’s described power weapon drops on the maps. If you’re thinking of the GI article when I say this, you’re thinking wrong. If you’re thinking of what Frank’s said about it? Then you should hopefully see my angle when I say the power weapon drop dealy could actually be an interesting and good factor in competative matchmaking.

That would be a miracle and the end of the world lol

It won’t. It’s part of the natural evolution of competitive gaming. I remember a time when Doom was king, then Quake, then Golden Eye, then Counter Strike, then Unreal, then Halo. None of these games have ever managed to reclaim their former glory, Halo is just the latest.

The only surfire way for Halo to reclaim the throne is for it to go away for a decade and then return triumphantly. Worked for Starcraft.

The probability of Halo 4 reclaiming the FPS throne is extremely low, but I still believe in miracles.

I’m really looking forward to seeing it, I mean how many other games have a production studio built ground up around them funded by the single largest software juggernaut in the world? I expect and foresee great things both for the hardcore, the casual, and the mega fans, I’m looking forward to seeing how the explore john’s character, even the books kept him pretty cryptic

doom and golden eye were kings of competitive gaming at one point?

yupp cuz you played the game so you’d know, mind linking me to a gameplay video that makes you think this?

Doesnt mean anything. Halo CE started in a chicago basement by relatively unknown game designers

For the people saying it won’t, how would you know?

Whatever happened to excited hopeful fans? In my day we took what we were given and made due, and we’re better for it, it proved skill, built character, when did game fans become whining premidonnas? Two sticks and a rock, and we had to SHARE the rock!

Gee you’re so witty and clever. See thats why i love the internet, so many witty and clever people.

Honestly, yes.

I’ve been a highly committed fan of Halo for damn near my entire life. Yes, I was playing it in Elementary school. I remember sitting around my brother’s room with a bunch of other “Big kids” in 5th grade, just like I remember hopping online on my 360 for the first time with my friends in my first year of high school in a game that would ultimately own my life. That was 5 years ago. I want to go back to dropping down in an arena setting with 3 comrades, whether I know them or not, and fight against four enemies over positioning, weapon control, and dominance, all while on an even playing field.

Seeing a game I’ve been a fan of for so long, turn into a game it is not and has not been creates many feelings, and not many of them are positive. Yeah, I’ll probably still buy the game, and yeah, I’ll still probably have a blast and sink hundreds of hours into it… But it’ll be a different game. A game I, personally, am not a fan of. A game that NOBODY is a fan of, as we have not experienced this in the slightest.

It is obviously copying concepts from all the generic shooters out there, causing it to lose the uniqueness that was once there. This is not Halo, and I don’t care WHAT is written on the box. We’re even getting random weapon spawns now. For what reason?

Behind all the rage, angry posts, threads, arguments, flaming, finger pointing, etc, is a guy who is sad. Sad beyond belief. I’m a fan of the series, and 343 is breaking my heart. For what? Hopefully getting more sales from a franchise that will obviously completely dominate in every aspect regardless of how Halo changes?

So yes, I’m hoping it won’t. I’m hoping with every fiber of my being. If it does end up on top EVERY Halo game will end up like this. If it bombs terribly we’ll either see a change in Halo 5, or the series will be put to rest, hopefully being revived in the next generation with a renewed recognition for what brought it to the dance in the first place.

I had hope for CEA…look no mp. why even bother
I had hope for the TU…yay they removed bleedthrough…
Id rather have low expectation and be pleasantly surprised then have my faith crushed like reach, CEA, and the TU
