I just thought about it; Halo 5 doesn’t say it includes forge; 343 seem to be keeping details scarce and trying to showcase all the things you can do in forge (6 Breakout maps, Pegasus, Orion, 4 BTB maps, so 12 maps total).
So are they hyping it up to get us to want to buy it? Or has it been announced as free?
I found this in a Weekly update, but it says it will be released in December and THEN be an ongoing free service. So, initial cost?
> The new Forge mode will release in December, just in time for the holiday break. From there, we’ll be running Forge as an ongoing (free) service for Halo 5, taking feedback from the community and delivering new features and content on an ongoing basis.
Let’s not forget that I was the one that blew the whistle on no Customs without internet connection as well as the fact Forge would NOT launch with the game.

Not claiming it to be legit; just have a legit question. No where on the case does it mention forge.
Last mega thread I had about EVERYTHING with the exception of Solo campaign; resulted in this Tweet. We had all assumed that customs would be accessible without internet connection.
Also; 343 stated it was a SERVICE in the quote I provided I the OP.
“From there, we’ll be running Forge as an ongoing (free) service”
From there following it’s release, could cost a single fee to get lifetime access.

Not mad at you, mad at -Yoink!- for saying that. I read that when they first said it and it still feels very wrong to me how they said it.

were you not paying attention when they already said a long time ago… any and all additional content “post” launch will be 100% free.
This includes, forge, additional reqs, map packs and any other added content…
“an on going (free) service”… kind of says it right there…

I think it’s just a way to see how the community will react. It seems like they’re REALLY out to hype it up before release, making full featured forge maps shipped with the game and now 4 BTB forge maps as DLC.
From a business standpoint, it seems they’re trying to build value before they tell us it’s not initially free. BUT look what all you can do with it! And once it’s purchased, you’ll get free updates for the lifetime of Halo 5!

Just because businesses want to make money doesn’t mean they will take any chance they can to bone their customers. Anyone with half a brain can look at what you said and know if they did that it would be career suicide. Sure most of us would pay for it but it’s a bad business practice and I really doubt everyone at 343 is as sleezy as you think they are.

They’re advertising it as a SERVICE! Like Bungie Pro back in the day.
“The new Forge mode will release in December, just in time for the holiday break. From there, we’ll be running Forge as an ongoing (free) service for Halo 5…”
You’re missing the first part. Released in December for holiday break THEN be running as an ongoing free service.
I bought Halo 5, initial purchase.
I can play Arena, Warzone, and Campaign “services” free now.
Forge was not included in my purchase.
Plus with H5 already sitting at ~56GB, the 3 canvases and an entirely new “service” will be >4GB according to the back of the game case, which states it required 60GB, and they always round those up.

Im not calling them sleazy; I love Halo 4 & Halo 5. But EVERYTHING that has been announced for anything having to do with Halo 5 can be interpreted multiple ways.

Everything is free after you buy the game other than req packs if you want to buy them

you’re missing the point of where they said “all” post launch content will be 100% free… this includes forge.
forge will be free

Source? I’ve seen that maps and REQ additions will be free. But no where have they mentioned that “Services” will be free.

heres one articleforge is free… they have said over ans over again all post launch content will be free. how many times do i have to repeat that… use google
That’s not an official source; and even clicking on a single link on that site comes up with this paragraph.
“Holmes detailed the new Forge mode on the official Halowaypoint blog some hours ago. Following the post, some fans on the Teambeyond forums commented on the part where Holmes pointed out that the new Forge will be “an ongoing free service for Halo 5”. Judging from the comments, the word free confused some, as the Forge mode has always been free in every other Halo game.”

Ah I got it now, you’re confused on whether it will be free or not. All services and content other than paid req packs are free. Glad we sorted that out.

oh man, i give up with you,
wait till December and find out…
the only reason forge was delayed is because it has far far far more content than any other forge and they wanted to finish work on it to ensure it launches smoothly and works as intended day 1 rather than launching a broken mess.
Forge will release… in December… for free.
the reason they say is is a “service” is because, if you pay attention to the sprint vidocs they release etc, they explain they intend on updating it with new pieces and tools etc
