I was skimming through posts and noticed that a lot of people are claiming that since we have seen thrusters and sprint that Armor Abilities are being re-born…
What we could infact see is both sprint and thrusters being available to everyone and along side each other, and this is how it is possible.
If the control layout was altered for H4 it could be quite easy to see how it could work:-
Thruster activation button - Hold in the A button after a jump OR while airborne (like Crypto’s jetpack in “Destroy All Humans”)
Sprint actiavtion button - Click the LS while moving (This would mean transferring ‘crouch’ from LS to maybe RS, and then moving the ‘zoom’ from RS to UP on the D-PAD)
… And that is how it could sufice. I’m not saying this is how it will work but for me personally I loved how we all started equally in Halo multiplayer, and this would continue that mechanic that a lot of us love.
Surely since Spartans are like modified, they could just be sprinting constantly? That would make it better, just make it so we are continuously sprinting. And surely the thruster should only work in space?
Everybody having sprint is not a solution to the “sprint problem” itself. While other people run away you have to run after them not being able to shoot, which means they are able recharge their shield. This leads to that you may not get the kill you rightfully should have earned, and that is why I prefer one faster movement speed over sprint. One faster movement speed is able to get you fast back into combat and won’t hinder you from killing your opponent.

This. HOPEFULLY the thruster and sprint can only be used in social.

This wasn’t a solution to the sprint problem, only the equality problem…

I would say that to spawn with something that can break map control as simple as with push off a button is not a good idea to have in a game. Yes, I am talking about Thrusters. Thruster is something that should be lying around on the map as pick ups available to all players choosing to fight for them. And what you get back for fighting for them is the ability to destroy map control with the push of a button. I must say that I do not like the idea of spawning with Sprint either, but hopefully it will be removed from specific gametypes such as the competetive ones.

> That’s what I’m thinking. The thrusters are just a quick extra boost to make that long jump.
I agree.
The same goes for Sprint. I think the all players will start with Sprint and Thrusters, for most game types anyway. I highly doubt they will be “Perks”, they just seem to foundational and major combat mechanics. To be honest, if the thruster is a compulsory ability and simply gives us an extra little jump I don’t see what the problem is with that. It will still enable every player to stand on an equal basis and only affect the classic Halo formula in a minor way. As for sprint, most people playing Reach only use Sprint, the only reason it can be disfavoured is due to the fact someone else is using a different ability. Again, if it is compulsory, this issue of ‘unfair advantage’ will not exist.
This idea of “Perks” that is floating around is getting way to exaggerated.
