What if in halo 6 or some future halo Master Chief were to die in some heroic way to save his team and ultimately humanity as a whole? I think this be really cool if done correctly, kinda like how cortana died in halo 4 (even tho she did come back in 5).
Edit: they could do prequels of Chiefs story after the game he dies in. Like with blue team before they got split up, before halo one and maybe even before halo reach.
343i did say that they saw the “end” of Chief’s story in Halo 6. I hope he dies purely because he is old as shown in the legendary ending of Halo 4.
I don’t want them to kill him off in halo 6, they should wait till halo 7.
They would have to make his death extremely important and game-changing. If it’s not powerful enough to make me cry I’m going to be incredibly disappointed.
I bet they will copy halo 3 with Johnson’s death. I mean, you need John to spell Johnson. I wouldnt be surprised if they do a similar situation in 6 where locke has to end chief with a bang.

They’ve already talked about knowing how his story will end, so I don’t think it is too far off. Can’t imagine that they would have Chief just decide, “well it’s time to hang it up” or become a captain of some ship. He won’t voluntarily leave combat, so he will have to die. It has to be heroic though, it can’t be like Locke betrays him and kills him and that’s it.

the amount of fans they would lose would be astronomical… Well what’s left of their fan base anyway. Killing the master chief is the same as killing halo. If they plan on making more “halo” games without him then they are truly out of touch with what the people want.

Chief dies, and so does Halo for me. Chief is what kept me playing since day 1.

It would be interesting to get prequels if he was to die, or maybe for the game he possibly dies in he has flashbacks you can play through or something. Or prequels with totally different characters, like arbiter before he became the arbiter.

It would follow perfectly with bungies games, 1 and 4 seems like it all over (cortana telling chief that in 1 didact dead in 4) 2 and 5 one new playable character ended with cortana gone and a cliff hanger (2 shes with the flood, 5 shes with the Promethean), 3 and 6 might be chief is “dead” (3 everyone thought he was 6 he might be) reach and 7 prequel
