What if 343 releases 2 separate games?

Had a funny dream last night. It was E3, and 343i came out on stage. They had some new announcement…

Halo 5: Guardians was going to be a stand-alone multiplayer-only title releasing this year. The game was completely dedicated to multiplayer, featuring 25 maps at launch. The game retailed for $39.99 and the season pass was $20.

Then there was another Halo 5 title. They didn’t release the sub-name for it in my dream, but that release was going to be completely campaign and Spartan Ops. They promised a 20-hour campaign, which isn’t heard of in shooters. Purchasing the new H5 story title also gave you a code for the last Map Pack for Guardians (similar to Mythic map pack in ODST). This game also was going to cost $39.99. They said it would launch in early 2016, about 6 months after H5 Guardians.

All in all, these games added up to $80, but allowed the company to focus on one part of the game and deliver a more full experience. They then said that this would be their new development cycle.

I know this was just a dream, but how would you feel if this was the path they decided to take?

Hmm… I’m not sure. I’d have to shell out more money, and swap disks as well, but I would get more stuff… Nah, I think I’d prefer the normal way.

I kinda like this, it’s a very interesting way to go about doing a game and I might actually support it.
