Would you like this to happen guys?Do you think he will be good or evil?
We kill him on sight because that floating traitor lightbulb killed Johnson!
We killed him Halo 3, but i did like him tho. The boss fight was good.
Or we might run into a new monitor protecting the installation.
343 Guilty Spark is confirmed alive in the extended universe. If he were to return it would be interesting considering the likely setting of Infinite is Installation 07 and Spark has quite the history there. Although I find his return unlikely due to 343’s shift in philosophy regarding extended universe material impacting game stories.
In Primordium (second novel in the Forerunner Saga, released in 2012) the damaged shell of 343 Guilty Spark is recovered from the Lesser Ark and taken on board an ONI ship named the Rubicon. Guilty Spark acts as the in universe explanation of how ONI knows the story found within the novel. This is because Guilty Spark was at one point an Ancient Human named Chakas, who the Iso Didact (essentially a copy of the pre corrupted Ur Didact from Halo 4) composed after he was mortally wounded on Installation 07. At the end of the novel 343 Guilty Spark now with the unlocked memories of Chakas (the memories of his human self are disabled after the Forerunners active the Array when the Iso Didact tasks his old friend with overseeing Installation 04) hijacks the ship to search for the Forerunners who survived the firing of the Halos.

He’s not dead, we killed him, but his damaged parts were recovered, he was repaired and interrogated. He was jettisoned after that but he uploaded himself into a ships computer or something like that. I’m a little fuzzy on the details but he’s “alive” as far as I know.
Edit: Nvm, see post above.
i hope he stays dead (i know he’s alive in the EU). bringing back dead charachters only because you can’t be bothered to write new interessting charachters and give them a proper introduction is just lazy writing. and please don’t bring back charachters who were brought back in the extended universe. these things just cheapen the death in previouse installments.
See this one is tough for me.
I know he’s not technically dead, but bringing I think bringing back characters that have been thought of as dead can “cheapen” their death that we saw before. They have to return in a significant way that is explained in my opinion. Absurd example, but what if Johnson just showed up without an in-game explanation. I’m not sure how I would feel about it given the emotional impact of his death in Halo 3.
At the same time, I am hoping for more familiar and nostalgic pieces to be in Halo Infinite. I am not talking about a 1-to-1 remake of Halo: CE, but I think it would be cool if we did similar things like went to the Library, encountered the Flood, and another piece of Halo: CE’s great story was the Monitor. Hopefully we encounter the monitor of Zeta Halo to fill that role.

They did bring in New interesting characters. We spent time with the human who would become GS (Chakas) and GS is as much his own character. I’m usually if the mind to keep people dead, but I’ll make an exception here.
If he has an actual purpose in the story and isn’t brought back for blatant fan service then sure, why not. I’d prefer a new monitor, though.
It depends on what he does. Obviously it will be difficult to trust him since he killed Johnson. But if he can find a way to stop Cortana then maybe Chief could help him. What if he came back and transferred himself into an A.I chip and became Chiefs new companion? Man that would be a big plot twist!

After being attacked initially with the threat of having his head taken then made to believe he can trust the lightbulb THEN being betrayed; I’m fairly certain it’s safe to say that Chief isn’t stupid. He would definitely not trust 343 Guilty Spark after what’s happened between them. A new monitor altogether? I can see Chief accepting the help of, but I’m pretty sure he’s on edge around even Exuberant Witness just because of past interactions with monitors.
Then I’d be glad to pop that son of a gun with a Splaser the second time
For Johnson
If the Developers name themselves 343 after Guilty Spark, then you know they gonna bring him back!

Ah you mean it’s favorite number 7,ok:wink:
Now seriously i think he should come back into Infinite game,he was in 3 games already and now with more knowledge about him we got in the Forerunner trilogy he seems to very important character. As for bringing characters back from death,he already came back in Halo 2 when we thought he died in Halo CE.The same happened with Johnson and now Cortana.Im just hoping Didact and Flood also come back.

I liked the didact but I don’t like the part where he just lets chief go and we didn’t see him much in game, and I felt like the boss fight was just dissapointing cuz we just push a button to beat the campaign.
343 guilty spark was such an amazing character, the boss fight was good and a bit funny. He also had good writing unlike the warden eternal which was a boring character and it was repeated. I think the warden should work with the didact and have good lines. He was just basically felt just a robot with a bad voice.
He gets lit up. No way he kills Johnson and gets away with it.

we thought he died in H:CE, but in the after credit scene you see he’s still alive. so his return was already teased in CE.
also, people who don’t read the books (which are the majority of the players i think) don’t have more information about guilty spark.
for johnson: in CE he was more or less just a marine (at least to me he wasn’t that special). he could die in every level he was in, especially on legendary. you could compare him to keys who wasn’t allowed to die in the lvl truth and reconsilation. i don’t know if johnson was supposed to be a charackter more than just the tough sergent. i’m not sure why bungie brought him back, i think they mentioned it in some video about halo 2 and they even made fun of him surviving H:CE…, but i forgot how exactly it was.
cortanas return just cheapend her death in h4. same would happen with guilty spark and to some degree it already happend in the books, but i don’t really care about the books. also i think the return of other spartans II cheapened the case, that master chief was supposed to be the last surviving spartan II in halo 1 and i think throughout the first trillogy within the games (which is also a reason i didn’t like Jun to survive reach, even if he is a spartan III)
to clearify: i don’t want to take away anything that happend in the books from people, but i also don’t want it to affect the games story in a major way. i want to be able to play the games without needing the EU knowledge. i’m also not against bringing charackters from books into the games, but they need to also be charackterised within the game. thats one of the reasons i don’t really care about any of the members of blue team or osiris. they have minimal charackterisation without EU. books should expand the story, not be mandatory for the games.
and i’m against bringing back dead charackters overall (in books or games). there can be exceptions if done right, but most of the time i think a story benefits more from them staying dead.
