Just wondering if anyone thinks the events of 4, 5, and Infinity would play out differently if 343 Guilty Spark was still around and kicking. This is just for fun, so let’s relax for a minute and think about it.
I don’t really think he’s that vital to the overall plot so he’d probably just be relegated to side stories, unless he’s playing the long game and intends to manipulate humanity into activating something greater than just a singular ring, perhaps he aligns with Cortana during Halo 5.
I assume you mean he never turns evil, including every game after H3. I think he would end up on Earth with Arbiter after the closing of the portal. Perhaps he ends up on Infinity and finds Chief with the rest of those folks in H4. In H5, maybe 343GS meets up with Exuberant Witness. They catch up after many thousands of years, exchange some data, and then work together to take down Cortana. Maybe Cortana makes a poor decision by letting 343GS get to her, and he plays a role in ending the Created’s rule at the end of H5. Would be interesting.
Well Johnson would still be alive so there is that

Funny you say that… because that’s exactly what happened to him. He’s alive, no longer 100% good or evil, and has been relegated to side stories. They’re good side stories, but side stories nonetheless.
In the most recent Spark book, Halo: Point of Light, Spark opposes Cortana’s new paradigm.

I like the new direction of Spark, it was …questionable at first but Point of Light really did wonders for the character
Wait, so there are side stories that expand on the character of 343 Guilty Spark? I have to admit, I haven’t read a lot of the books or extraneous lore, outside of the classic trilogy of novels which I read in high school. So what’s the deal with the Sparkster? Does he redeem himself and turn not evil?

Doubt anything would change.
Wait… not all Halo had it’s own “343”? We see what happened the one on Delta Halo, but the other installations? The UNCS or scientist didn’t encounter any of them?
They were all the same guy… Different Oracles had different names like Penitent Tangent and Mendicant Bias.

No doubt Spark would continue to assist the Master Chief where possible. I think if he and the Ur-Didact had a chance to speak, Halo 4 would have ended somewhat differently. That said the Ur-Didact problem also doesnt care about the thoughts of a Monitor. Especially one whose ring was destroyed twice.
Halo 5 might be where he would work for Cortana assuming he didnt go rampant in Halo 3 - Spark is certainly an interesting character but his rampancy was kind of important in my opinion.

If you want to read the continuation of his story you need to read:
- Hunters in the Dark - (Optional but introduces other characters): Smoke and Shadow - Renegades - Point of LightI’d also strongly recommend the Forerunner Trilogy as it puts a lot about his character into context.
Lazy spoiler summary below but strongly recommend reading the books
343 Guilty Spark was actually an Ancient Human named Chakas who helped Bornstellar (later Iso-Didact) awaken the (Ur-) Didact from his Cryptum on Earth.
Chakas was taken to Charum Hakkor (home to the Primordial), Janjur Qom (San’Shyuum homeworld) and then, after being captured by the Master Builder, Maethrillian (Forerunner Capital) from which he escaped during a Flood attack onto the Flood controlled Installation 07. During all this he began to awaken his geas - Lord of Admirals (the Didact’s human nemesis).
On Installation 07, Chakas was severely wounded, leading to them saving his consciousness and placing it inside the Monitor, giving us 343 Guilty Spark.
After events on The Ark, Spark’s broken carapace was picked up by the UNSC Retribution, but he took control of the ship. The ship crash-landed and Spark took over an Armiger’s (Forerunner Soldier) body. He was then found by the crew of the scavenger ship Ace of Spades, which he joined for a time. Eventually Spark ended up at Bastion, the Librarian’s equivalent of Requiem, where Spark became its new Monitor
Then johnson would still be alive
He wasn’t necessarily evil, he just got caught in his programming. He was programmed to protect the rings, and Installation 08 was meant to be his new ring, so honestly I’d be pretty upset if two men in green and a 7 foot lizard thing tried to destroy it. But honestly, I think if Spark was in H4 and H5, the story would be much more fun to experience.

That’s kind of interesting. (Lemmy Motorhead voice) The Ace of Spades, the Ace of Spades.
