Not now, I mean in Halo 5 or 6. Like they had on Halo Custom Edition. Would this be a good or bad move for the franchise?
Depends.
If I can’t find official servers and instead am forced to play 500 kill-long Slayer games, then it’s a problem.
If official servers are always available and easy to find, I’d give it a shot.
But honestly, Halo games tend to have a lot of playlist variety so I don’t think it’s needed, but hey it could work if you really wanted it.
Bad move. while the idea is popular, its so much harder to control servers and to get them to run as smooth as their supposed to, look at BF3, the beta crashed nearly every 10 mins trying to occupy all the people, 343 would have to nail it otherwise itd be days after launch of frusrated server crashes
Bad move!! I hope they never do it! BF3 got dead when they intruduced owner made servers. Stoped playing when that happened.

I definitely hope not. The amount of abusive admins on BF3 on XBL makes playing bf3 an exhausting chore sometimes. I have a feeling it’s going to be even worse on Halo 4. You’ll have children kicking out anyone who kills them or setting up 500 kill slayer servers, no BR, plasma pistols only.

I don’t want to be booted just cause Im better then someone else, and usaully when I play matches with friends I generally want to be on the same team as them the whole time.
Those two problems is why I stopped play Battlefield 3.
Then Halo would die. It would be nothing but 24/7 endless Slayer on popular maps. Every game that lacks official servers has this happen. All I can every play on Battlefield is Nosahr Canals TDM, Op Metro Rush, 24/7 Jetwhores, and 24/7 Damavand Rush. I am able to get a little bit of server variety when a new DLC is launched, but this is the majority of the servers at any given time in the US.
Halo PC and Halo 2 Vista are the same. CE has mostly 24/7 Tanks/Rocket SWAT Blood Gulch, Sniper SWAT, and the occasional regular Slayer server. Halo 2 is nothing but Fiesta District or 24/7 Coagulation.
That’s not even getting started on all the badmins that ban you permanently for blowing up their tank, or the madmins that kick you for knifing them.
Rent a server was a bad move to even begin with. I can see it now in Halo with Match ends in 30 minutes and over 100000 deaths till match is won. eah going to be terrible.

Terrible idea shouldnt be done halo 5 and 6 will be good but they dont need that <.< i hate the server thing in bf3 and id hate 343 if they ever did that
I actually think it would work for customs, that don’t track stats, doesn’t allow you to rank up, get credits or add to BPR. Just for customs. Host would decide what weapons and loadouts you have access to along with maps and gametypes.
While the matchmaking stays like it always is. This is where you would unlock new classes, Rank up, get Spartan points etc…
Wouldn’t really care for that. I’d much prefer if they took Battlefields higher player count, larger maps, more vehicles and destructible environments though.
It would be great for clans and customs.
Bad for people who like to play the game with vanilla settings without dbag admins.
Lots of official servers would be needed. I suggest having both playlists and a custom browser.

If you ever actually played BF3 you would know how much the “Rent a Server” program from EA completely ruined a good portion of the game (along with a number of other things that I won’t rant on this forum about).
For all I care Microsoft could charge an extra $5 a year from the xbox live subscription if they were THAT dedicated to bring servers to the Halo franchise. Of course, that suggestion is highly unlikely due to the fact that not everyone on Xbox plays Halo.

You know what i done once? You know the second ruch phase on kharg island when the hovercrafts with tanks come in? Well i was defending and i put AT mines in front of the tanks, killed an admin then cod booted and banned plus a rage message from a 10 year old.
