What I'd like to see in Halo 5.

Let me begin by saying I love what 343 has done with Halo 4, that being said I feel like a few things were missing. Though most of them being small things like theater mode working with campaign. Anyway let’s dive into what I’d like to see in the future. I’m going to start with what will make most of you look away from your monitors in rage and fear.

The Flood returning: Now hear me out. The flood have huge potential as an enemy and are already a huge part of the franchise. It’d only make sense to return to them. Think of all the terrifying possibilities there could be for new pure forms. We could be facing all sorts of horrifying new mutations in a new Halo game and if anyone could make flood more interesting to fight it’d be 343. Infected Spartans would be nice. A very fast (to the point of bullet dodging) shielded flood form that uses stealth tactics. And a threat if one of your teammates fall in combat and are discovered by an infection form.

Brutes: Mostly what I want to see here is Brutes returning and returning with their weaponry new and improved to fit in to Halo 5’s loadout and ordnance drops. The spiker tweaked to fit in with the AR, suppressor, and storm rifle. But what I want to see return most from the brutes is the chopper. This vehicle was a blast to use and very formidable. I would not care for the prowler’s return unless it gets a big redesign. I would love to see the return of the spike grenade and maybe even the incendiary grenade. They’d offer more variety in multiplayer and in loadouts plus the spike grenade’s unusual blast shape was always fun to exploit in creative ways.

More old things returning: Scarab, a human air vehicle, and revenant. While I doubt the scarab will anytime soon be incorporated into multiplayer, I very much think it needs to have a significant campaign presence again. It hasn’t done anything since Halo Wars and they have always been fun to bring down. Maybe a phantom like evolution where a previously indestructible vehicle can be destroyed by enough damage? Boarding them was fun but it felt too easy at times. Taking them down with an assault from multiple Mantis would be a blast. I would like to see the return of the Hornet (nerfed hopefully) or falcon. Of all the vehicles that changed the most it’d have to be whatever the covenant counterpart to the Warthog in each game. We had the spectre, prowler (I really didn’t like this vehicle), and revenant. Of all the vehicles that tried to be a covenant Warthog I think the revenant was the most fun to use.

Forge bits and pieces: I’d like to see things like levers, working doors, trapdoors, etc. But what I want most with every bit of my little Halo loving heart is being able to set down enemies like Elite Zealots, brute chieftains, grunt fuel rod wielders, and promethean battlewagons and being able to set them to teams. Making a makeshift arena in forge and watching them fight would provide hours of entertainment and I can’t even imagine what kind of gametypes the community would make with that at their disposal.

Pretty sure I left some things out but hey I can come back and add more. Feel free to add whatever you’d like to see and tell me what you think about my wishlist.

I have been an advocate for new Flood. They could get help from Dead Space developers.

That’d actually be a pretty cool idea. I already noticed what I thought was some Dead Space inspired stuff in Halo 4. Like the venator helmet and the spinal thingys on some of the UNSC. I’ve always thought of necromorphs as a distant cousin of the flood anyway.

Scarabs were a great addition to the original trilogy that I’m really surprised they ditched. They really amped up the scale of the encounters in halo 3. The Lich in halo 4 was really just a hovering bunker.

If forerunners/prometheans are still in later games, I want to see them get big mean units too. Prometheans seem totally unequipped for any sort of vehicle related combat in halo 4, the only time they are around vehicles is one part with a ghost, and the mantis bit inside infinity. Vehicles are a part of a halo sandbox, and if the they want these guys to be a main enemy, they need to embrace all aspects of it. The heavy turret is a complete joke.

Also, given their relation to the precursors, I’d kinda like to see the “neural physics”/psychic aspect of them brought out in the ‘new flood’.

I know for a fact that Halo 5 will be without a single doubt “The Dark One”, why is Halo 5 going to be “The Dark One” as 343 mentioned it so? A number of reasons to point out to what needs to be in Halo 5

Campaign ideas as seen below…

UNSC the Bad Guys? That could be a possible if not likely case, it be a similarity as saying “Star Wars Episode 3 is going to be The Dark One, this time the bad guys win” and in the case of Halo 5, there’s going to be a possible chance if not a likely chance that Master Chief will be forced to fight people of his own faction, through I also bet that other Spartans will eventually follow him out of sheer loyalty (Master Chief is after all the De Facto Leader of the Spartans as a whole).

Commander Sarah Palmer should play a major role in both Halo 5 and Halo 6 respectfully, I know for a fact she’s meant for something and whatever she’s meant for could very well get her to one day fight along side Master Chief himself, even to the point where she defects among with him.

Captain Thomas J. Lasky will also play a major role and one of the possible defectors once he too comes to realization that something’s gone wrong.

Unknown Interrogator from Halo 4’s Prolog could very well have something to do with “setting up Master Chief”, exactly what? I know not for I rather wait until Halo 5 comes out, only thing I know so is that he without a doubt has a dark boiling motive to kill off Master Chief himself.

The Arbiter should also return for Halo 5 as well as Halo 6 considering the fact he didn’t played any role whatsoever in Halo 4, possibly caught up with other things during that time period in the events of Halo 4.

Cortana 2.0, she be very similar to the original Cortana expect with noticeable differences, through her exact name if 343 wishes can be up to 343.

Other ideas as seen below.

A bandana for Master Chief (John 117), yes give him a bandana to wear on his helmet, in fact this is what Halo 4 should have as well if all possible, a bandana for Master Chief worn on his helmet (selectable for Campaign, Multiplayer, Firefight and Spartan Ops respectfully).

The Return of Firefights, yes this mode needs to make a return, while Spartan Ops serves as side-stories I also think the original Firefights need to make a comeback, and yes it should also have “Firefight Bosses” (Prophets from the Original Halo Trilogy make a comeback for Firefight Bosses as they should appear on bonus round).

Leaner Storyline, ideas that depending on what you do can alter or even change the course of the storyline in Halo 5 (as well as Halo 6).

Spartan Ops for Halo 5 should in fact serve as the kind of missions that depending on what the player dose could alter or even change the storyline.

Weapon & Ability Selection for Campaign. this is something that should happen in Halo 5 as well as Halo 6, the option to select whatever weapons and abilities you want to go with before you start in a campaign mission, several more can be unlocked over the course of Halo 5 and Halo 6.

Playing different characters, yes the player should be given the option to play different characters, not just Master Chief himself, in fact if possible replayed campaign missions should give players the option to play as Commander Sarah Palme or even the The Arbiter for replayed campaign missions as the characters should have different ups and downs respectfully (heak maybe they should even give Cortana 2.0 a cyborg Spartan body of her own and have that be playable).

That’s all I have in mind for ideas for Halo 5 as well as Halo 6.

On a side note for this, if 343 ever wanted to do so, they should one day make a parody version of Halo Combat Evolved called “Halo Cooking Evolved” with Master Chief dressed up as a Chef and everything ingame is more cooking related with all the crazy action.

scarab multiplayer battles would be sick. Easy way to do it as well, especially with a large open map. Have one team start inside a scarab for one battle, and the objective of that team is to demolish the other teams base and kill as many enemies as possible, whilst the opposite teams objective is to board and destroy the scarab. After that round, switch the teams, so the other team gets a try. Which ever teams gets the most points (depending on how long they hold out, or how fast they destroy the scarab) wins :D!

The Flood will obviously return. Maybe a Halo take on Dead Space multiplayer, or improved Flood mode?

New armor for Chief because all the battles WE fought as him are starting to show. Plus the gold visors dont cut it with kids these days…

And a better ending than Halo 4. Yeah thats what I’d want. I like the story but a true cliffhanger would be nice (not waiting forever for new Spartan OPs missions)

Yeah I dont have a life except playing Halo all day

I want to see complete symmetry. Something that has been tried before in some games but many haven’t succeeded. So far Halo has come close to it but it is still pretty far from it.

A good example would be Halo 3, it had a nice amount of vehicles but the ones that you could say were polar opposites were the Scorpion/Hornet and Wraith/Banshee. I would like to see a Locust (Halo Wars) take on a Mantis. Then again, who wouldn’t?

Bump to the max.

Rather than 343 bring back all of the old things, why don’t they come up with some NEW ideas of their own.

I would like to see the Covenant overhauled, we have been essentially fighting the same type of covvies for the last 12 years. For this, start giving them more Promethean weapons, better-high quality armor. I basically want the Covenant and Prometheans to fight as one. I would like to see a “Promethean Eliete” essentially a Knight but made from a composed Eliete.

Maybe the Lich will go through a transition as the Scarab did between Halo 2 and 3. I thought the Lich was just a cover up for the Scarab being gone. The Lich is just not a almighty foe.

Long read :stuck_out_tongue: but honestly I would also like to see the flood returning, and maybe brutes as well. 343i has said that Halo 5 will be more dark, so perhaps they will use the flood but in a much darker way? This idea is very appealing, I always felt the flood could be way more intimidating or creepy. 343i would probably also redraw a lot of aspects of the flood forms, which would give them so much potential.

i want spartan-1337 to kill everyone

I would like to see in Halo 5: dual wielding, Flamethrower, SMG, promethean-vehicles, forgemaps like in Halo3 or Reach, Firefight with flood, the Hornet, The Elephant, Pelican/Phanton for multiplayer and forge, forgemode like in Reach + the locking and lighting parts from Halo4, Elites in multiplayer back, more weapons please^^ aaaaaaand more different forgemap typs (snow-, desert-, jungle-, mountainmaps)… maby I forgot some points… correct me then ^^

Return of the Precursors, with the Flood being their ground forces. And I want them to have the feeling of dread the Reapers have for Mass Effect: when they show up, they curbstomp the opposition (said opposition can be allies or enemies or even both, considering the implied Precursor civil war).

Halo 5 needs to have a sense of urgency wrapped in a darker tone, a feelling of loss because this is still John’s story. It should be, however, larger in scale than Halo 4, which was kept fairly small to focus on John and Cortana. This sense of scale would better convey the idea that the Precursors are a massive enigmatic threat, and their shear presence erases worlds (relating to the sense of loss).

This would put John in a position where he might not be able to win. Simply by the idea that the Precursors are so damn powerful, I’ve always felt that humanity won’t be able to defeat the flood/Precursors, but instead simply survive them, to prove our worth through means of merit, and not necessarily military strategy.
