What I would like to see in Halo 5 Mtchmking:

Weapon loadouts removed
While I do enjoy them, I believe they are the root of all evil when it comes to weapon tuning. Maybe keep the loadouts for abilities and whatnot, but everyone should spawn with equal weapons. If you want a different weapon…fight for it on the map. Everyone starts with equal weapons, meaning equal minimum kill times, leaving the deciding factor in an engagement player skill.

Descoping instead of flinch
Or at least no perk that nullifies flinch, because people (assumption) hate going against that sniper who you hit multiple times only to be sniped while he’s zoomed. I have no problem getting no-scoped by a skilled sniper who I’m shooting relentlessly, but taking the time to precision aim while being pegged with bullets just rubs me the wrong way.

Sprint tied to shields (I pulled this idea off someone on the forums who I cannot recall, but modified it a little) or Sprint removed completely
Lots of people complain about sprint, and other don’t really care, and some love it. I love sprint, but it would be awesome if sprinting made your shield decay, or at the very least, stop all shield recharge while sprinting.
Removing sprint could also do wonders for Halo. Maps nowadays have to be made with sprint in mind. Map dimensions, hallway length, distance between cover have to be made with sprint in mind. Not saying this doesn’t happen with other aspects of Halo, but some problems have a cause that you (and even 343i) wouldn’t expect right away, and I think sprint causes some of these ‘ghost’ problems.

Ranked and Social separation!
I love playing ranked, and can hold my own, but sometimes I don’t want to bother with K/D, trueskill, or rank. I just want to play with some guests and not care what goes on.
Join-In-Progress Tweak
I put this under rank/social because I think halo needed join in progress for social playlists, but it really doesn’t belong in ranked matches. People joining late have an unfair disadvantage and vice-versa. Also, under the same category, bring back heavier punishments for quitting in ranked matches. This keeps social and ranked true to their name.

Personal Ordinance Tweak
I’m all for keeping infinity slayer its own variation, but here’s an idea. Make personal ordinance take longer to accumulate the points for. No power weapons can be called, but only basic weapons(DMR, BR, AR, etc.), grenades, and possibly power-ups (make cloaking a powerup again instead of ability). Having almost everyone on an opposing team on a large map with a sniper rifle that they called in with ordinance is just one scenario that happens too often.

Remove Insta-Spawn
‘nuff said.

Go Back to Number of Kills for Scoring
It just makes more sense and is easier on the eyes. Individual scores don’t even count toward the game score. The scores are just placeholders for kills anyway.

That’s a solid start. That’s prob 85% of my hatred for this game. Add symmetrical, smaller maps and we’re almost there.

OP pretty much sums it up.

I think the inclusion of both the Halo 3 style ranking system and Halo 4’s would be good as well.

All play would count to your Progression rank, but skill in the ranked matches would be visible too.

Sprint is a disease, and will never leave games. I however like h4’s sprint, hate reach’s.

And just removing jetpack would do more wonders for maps than removing sprint ever would, I agree with the rest of what you say though.

And definitely cloak being a ordnance rather than an AA. e.e

I personally like sprint the way it is, flinching was only a problem when facing a DMR, but with the weapon tune update its less of a problem in my opinion, and Loadouts is one of my favorite options TBH. i love being able to customize and form to my playstyle. in past halos i would spend more time searching for a non power weapon than actually fighting.
