what i love about halo was the solid game play. now i know that this can mean a lot of thing so let me elaborate. in halo 1 & 2 if you came into green room on the map “lockout” and i was there waiting for shot gun and we both seen each other and started to fight battle rifle vs battle rifle the better player will win no matter what (on LAN). it was perfectly balanced because of the fact that every person started out with the same items and no one person had an advantage in a given situation (excluding host of course but that is another discussion).
The x variable. what the x variable is, is the part of the game you have no control over. i don’t mean if some one has rockets or a power up. because these are controlled things. you have the power to control the weapon spawn point to ensure your team gets rockets or over shield. you do not have the power to make your shots hit when you are fully bloomed out yes you can stop shooting and line up a head shot but by that time it is almost always to late the person spamming usually will hit a LUCKY head shot in the time it take to reset the bloom. also Armour abilities is the huge x variable battles are usually won or lost because of Armour abilities, not because a player is better or worse.
Burst of fun or extended enjoyment. the x variable provides a burst of fun what i mean by that. is when luck shines on you it is awesome you are having a great time for those few seconds. and then it ends and you are left wanting more but you realize that those bursts of fun account for about 1/10 of the time played. a smooth solid game play doesn’t provide a huge short fun pay out but a equal pay out of enjoyment through out the entire time playing. this makes for a game that lasts like halo 1,2,3.
yes halo 4 looks cool but until i see something that makes me think it wont be going to be that burst of fun for casuals i will hold off my pre orders and excitement. all i am asking is keep in mind the hardcore gamers, since after all we will be playing it most.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO AGREE WITH ME JUST PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT ON WHAT YOU THINK
What I love about Halo is that it isn’t just a multiplayer only game, and has other features like a magnificent campaign set in a fantastic universe and other great gamemodes like Forge and Spartan Ops.
People, instead of focusing on the positive things, automatically think of the negative things, which seems to be mostly Multiplayer. This is the problem with the Halo 4 forums.
im not only focusing on the negative things i do say it will be fun i just do not want them to forget about the hardcore gamers. like they did in halo reach

To be honest I don’t agree.
I may be wrong but I view it similar to BF3. The more you play the more attachments you unlock. Similarly on H4 the more you play the more specialisations you unlock. This really only helps to strengthen dedicated people that play, compared to casuals. However, when I have my ideal loadout and you have yours, we should be pretty even (environment depending) If the skill gap wasn’t enough, this should certainly put the final nail in the coffin…not that I am complaining, Me likes smashing noobs.

The thing is, if your skills are even and the other player has an armor ability/specialization/tactical package that is strictly better in that particular situation, that player will win (assuming, of course, that armor abilities, specializations, or/and tactical packages impact gameplay to a large enough degree). The player didn’t really deserve the win because they made a lucky selection, a selection the other player neither had no way of knowing nor had no control over.

Out of all the Modification including one become available after finishing the specializations. Give any one a large advantage when using any of said modifications?

But the amount of instances where this could happen is very limited. There are many variables to consider, not just specialisations. Namely human error, team assistance, lag and many more. But for arguments sake, saying we are both the same skill and we meet in a neutral environment but you have a better armour ability, then I lose. That isn’t a first for Halo and a I doubt it will be the last.
Just as long as, in most instances, the more skill full (experienced) player wins, which should be the case. I’m happy.
I mean at the end of the day, if we want to start talking advantages, they should have dedicated servers.
