As a warning, these are just my opinion.
What I liked:
-
I love the environment, the animals, seeing that kind of stuff makes it feel more alive. - Chiefs armor obviously has a ton of time put into it and looks great. - Little details like the smudge reflections on the ammo counter. - Armor breaking off of the brutes in different places. - The art style for the most part. - The sounds for the most part are pretty good. - I like the interactivity with the environment.
What I didn’t like:
-
The pistol looks so normal, even if it’s not the magnum and is more like the halo 2 pistol, give it some glowing lights. - The weapons are very monotone, they need some extra detail and texture. - Animations, although I imagine those are being worked on. - The orange flash with shield regen, it’s too much. - Why are elites blue? They’re part of the banished. - Grappling hook is kinda odd, I’m not sure about it. - Give us a bit more feedback with the weapons while firing, not in the way of bloom though. The auto rifle knockoff seems very bland and that doesn’t help it. - I’m assuming normal missions will still be around in a way, but still a concern. - I still wish the warthog had the original games suspension style, but that’s a big nitpick. There’s simply something not quite right, I’m positive for the game and think it looks good, but if it needs more time, then it needs to be delayed some.
PROS:
- FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, A HALO RING TO EXPLORE. I loved CE for it’s open missions and I waited 20 years to see this expanded, when it was only barely touched on streets of mombasa and new alexandria, but instead of an ancient alien ringworld, they were random destroyed cities were you know how the narrative ends and that it has no impact or nothing to discover. This is the chaddest thing in the demo easily.
- The gameplay, the sanbox. Throwing one of those exploding canisters, a hook that IS LIMITED mind you, jackals that activate or deactivate their shields, FLYING GRUNTS… They thought out of the box.
- This isn’t in the demo but in the news post I saw things like the shield or the hook WON’T BE STARTING EQUIPMENT, you pick them up just like in H3 and probably this VERY LIKELY means sprint and bloom won’t be there by default.
- This means also that most spartan abilities directly forming part of the player are gone.
- Other awful mechanic from H5 thrown into trash is the AI squad that revives you a la COD and does everything for you.
- They confirmed we’ll see more about multiplayer in the coming month.
- No sign of palpatine cortana.
- The plot seems dark, epic, desperate, and tied to the story of the rings and the factions we know.
- Half of the art style (presentation, human, banished and forerunner architecture, natural landscapes, the uniform of the pilot).
CONS (I won’t act like a clown and put the H5 placeholder sfx or unfinished graphics)
- The other half of the art style (the covenant although it’s better than H4 and 5, weapons, warthog, chief’s armor is ok but feels like fanservice to me)
- The portrayal of the covenant in general, they seemed a bit too… cartoony to me, especially the brute at the end. RIP WORT WORT WORT.
For me that was it, I’m more than satisfied.

I’m glad that it satisfies you. I don’t really have much issue with the cartoony idea. They’ve been cartoony before. I’d maybe be worried ai wise, but it is a demo
