I think it’s safe to say that everyone here is pretty hyped. Hyped to the point where things that are welcome changes can be viewed negatively or over exacerbating some other changes to be incredible beyond belief. I know no one really cares, but I’ll just provide my list.
What I liked
-
Artstyle looks clean. I can instantly tell what things are thanks to the lack of lens flares and bloom. The game is visually not very busy. The gun models look great geometrically and each has their own distinct silhouette. - Enemies are more dynamic. The suicide grunts don’t just run towards you they launch themselves at you. Brutes seem to bob and weave more so than 4 and 5, comparable to a much more finely tuned 3 Brute. The jetpacks are also a welcome addition. - The grappling hook. I was pretty scared at how this was gonna be implemented but seeing it I’m more put at ease that they’re viewed like equipment. It will definitely bring a ton of verticality as a power weapon and seems to be a fun was to get around. Verticality seems to be a big focus for Infinite, and I like that. - Gun variety. There seems to be a ton you can play around with. And these are just the common weapons you can find laying around anywhere. Also the return of the king: the Mauler. Please call it the Mauler. Mangler doesn’t have the same ring to it. - The sounds are still great and distinct. Not as heavy hitting as say 1-4 but better than 5’s plinks. The plasma weapons especially sound great. - The Chief looks badass. End of story.
What I didn’t like -
The textures need work. Badly. The ground textures looks great but the unfinished/destroyed parts of Zeta Halo don’t. Maybe it’s the lighting not doing it any favors, I don’t know. Guns especially cannot look that matte grey. They need some wear and tear to them. Vehicles look decent though, especially the Warthog. The phantoms could use a bit more of a metallic look to them like Halo 3 did. Feels like there’s a lack of specularity to textures. - Sprint. This is purely subjective, but I don’t like sprint. Just encourages 4v4 maps to feel like 6v6 maps. Keep the changes from Halo 5 and make it a bit slower so it’s still a viable option to run around with caveats. For the open world though I couldn’t care less really. In fact it’s a welcome change in this instance. - I think Brutes need some work done to them especially. Add some hair to them like HW2 and H3. Not Chewbacca though like H2. The Brute Minors look ugly cause they look like clay. Anyways, that’s just my opinion. Still excited, please make a ViDoc though. We’re starving for me info.
