What I liked about Halo 5's campaign.

So I just now finished Halo 5’s campaign after owning the game for about 2 and a half months. I took me forever to convince myself to play it because I knew that there was very little Chief in it. However, I really wanted to finish it because, for one thing, I have now played and beaten every Halo campaign except for ODST’s (I played some of it, but I didn’t like it). And after just now finishing it, there was some aspects of 5’s campaign that were actually pretty good.

1: The level design is great. This is probably largely due to the X1’s power, but the levels are very well-made, especially Sanghelios
2: The game-play itself is actually quite good. It was basically non-stop action which was quite fun. It did, though, need more focus on vehicles.
3: The Arbiter. I loved seeing the Arbiter again and having several missions revolve around him.
4: While the lack of Master Chief sucked, the story itself seems like it is setting up for something big. I expect after playing H5 that something huge is gonna happen in H6.

All in all, Halo 5’s campaign wasn’t really bad, I did have fun playing it. However, it was still probably the worse Halo campaign I have played (aside from ODST).

Said it before and will say it again… H5 campaign gets more hate than it deserves. Yeah there should have been more Blue Team missions but over all it’s not a bad campaign at all. I get that some don’t like the plot with this the created vs creators war not very original but they have to go somewhere past Covenant wants to light ring and Chief in turn blows up the ring. Sanghelios was very well done. The script could have been better as well.

OP go back and play it on solo legendary. Your opinions will change.

I am currently about half way through solo legendary. It is infuriating! I have battles Warden Eternal once and I can hardly imagine doing it again and again and again.

I second this. Halo 5’s campaign is still better than a CoD campaign.

I maintain that from a gameplay standpoint it is one of my favorite campaigns in the series… the story I wish was better, but I always have fun playing it.

I agree

It’s underwhelming if anything. For me, I was mostly bothered by the lack of things. I wanted more depth and story telling overall and the cliff hangers lately (in Halo Wars 2 as well), have been irritating; I feel as if I have an incomplete game.

For ODST, that’s a shame you didn’t finish it. It’s my second favorite campaign in the Halo series. If you’re big on Halo lore and charm, I’d definitely give it another go; there are some pretty great surprises and experiences in the later levels if you weren’t aware.

Not sure about this. I found the level design to be too linear but the graphics were decent, not sure about the action part since it felt like the game was over-run with Promethean spawn spam, generally wasn’t fun for me, the lack of exploration for vehicles bugged me too since just about every vehicle related mission was extremely linear but I do agree with you that H5 is my least favourite campaign too.

You had a lot of trouble beating the game on legendary?

It was difficult, but playing the Promethean sections on meridian station on solo was repetitive. Non the less I completed it. It wasn’t near as difficult as Halo 2.

To be honest I really didn’t like the campaign. Not a fan of the story and Locke. It’s not that I never got to play as chief but moreso that I didn’t like playing as Locke. Also I hate fighting the prometheans and wardens.
I did enjoy the sanghelios sections and seeing arbiter but it’s still by far my least favorite campaign.
