what I dont like about the AI

they have a almost 360 attack when looking and hitting one way, can instantly fire a plasma pistol after it was charged, know your exact where abouts at any given time, the grunts cant be understood now when in CE we could hear what the yell they were saying with no problem, and the fact that they can sometimes nail you in the face all they way accrost the map with a plasma pistol and that is in campaign and firefight. this to me is what should be fixed. dont get me wrong, i dont have a probem playing it but I just dont like dealing with it.

The problem about Halo’s AI is that it isn’t actually smart, it just cheats. Stuff like a Wraith facing away from you and being stuck between rocks yet firing its main turret in your direction is proof enough of that.

As a whole the AI ignores restrictions and limitations that apply to the player, like a weapon’s rate of fire (Covies can shoot automatic weapons faster than the player), not having to reload (Brute firing 13 consecutive shots from a concussion rifle in quick succession), weapons not overheating (firing a plasma pistol normally immediately after having fired an overcharged shot), and so on.

Yeah, the AI is a cheating -Yoink-. =D

Makes sence. But still it’s not fun like that. One reason I still play all the old Halos is that i can understand the grunts. I love messing with them!

I’ve noticed this too. Instead of making the AI smarter, they compensate by making them ridiculously overpowered in some dumb way. Like on Legenday, I didn’t know the Plasma Pistol fired faster than the Plasma Rifle?

That is why i still play Halo 3: ODST

Good man! =)

And the AI has been cheating ever since H:CE. But ten years ago you were far more willing to tolerate that. In fact, H:CE’s AI was actually pretty darn amazing for its time.

Today, however, I expect more from a game’s AI than using cheap tricks and blatant cheating to increase difficulty.

Actually, from what I noticed, the enemy being able to fire straight after firing an overcharged shot only cropped up in Reach. In very other Halo, the weapon overheated, and the enemy was unable to fire for a short amount of time.

And then of course there’s elites performing two melees in what seems to be one melee animation.

However were the AI not capable of performing such trickery firefight and campaign difficulty would go down significantly.
