What I don't like about Halo 4

I’m a veteran of the Halo gaming series and I believe that Halo 4 has potential. But what I don’t like about the game is the ratio of Halo aspects from previous titles compared to newer aspects. There isn’t a good balance between what was kept from previous titles to what was changed or added. Let me make a list of some aspects that were kept or changed for Halo 4.

Kept.
-A lot of the previous Halo weapons from other titles.
-Previous factions like UNSC, Covenant (speculation)
-Game-modes from previous Halo games (forge, multiplayer, campaign)
-Previous gameplay mechanics like Melee, Shooting, Grenades, Armor Abilities
-Symmetrical maps that are arena based (Haven, Adrift)
-Halo rings (Halo 4’s main menu suggests this theory)
-Powered exo-skeletons (Spartan armor)
-Spartans
etc.

Added.
-New faction with new weapons (Prometheans)
-Completly new sounds for most previous weapons (assault rifle, magnum, shotgun, sniper etc.)
-Unnecessary changes to some weapon apearences (sniper rifle)
-Spartan Ops along with other possible game modes (speculation)
-Removing of Firefight
-Completely new branch of Covenant (Storm Covenant)
-Huge up hauls with Covenant Storm enemies that look way too different and unethical (Elites, Grunts, Jackals)
-Completely different multiplayer mechanics with the additions of custimizable classes and instant respawning on various game modes along with open lobbies during multiplayer matches that allow you to join in games
-Huge changes to capture the flag and oddball (carrrying the flag with a sidearm, flag assasanations)
-Addition of Sprint as a standard feature
-Changing of most previous armor permutations along with the addition of very different looking armors. (beyond Halo standard)
-Removing of Elites as playable characters in multiplayer
-Addition of Ordinance and custom kill streek drops
-Addition of Specialties
-No longer do power weapons on maps spawn in the same location
-Can no longer pick up grenades from dead players unless equipped with a certain specialty (correct me if I’m wrong on that one)
etc.

So as you can see, by what I have written so far, the majority of Halo 4 is mostly changes. Which is good, but there needs to be a reasonable balance between what is kept and what is removed. That’s what I don’t like about Halo 4.

UGH. Why must all of you complain so much?

I know I might have been a bit unfair with the lists but I tried to write down all the facts I knew at the time. If there is something you’d like to add to the list please do so.

Half the stuff in added is just aesthetic changes made to make the game more realistic.

Ugly Covies = Real

Real Gun Sounds = Real

Stop nitpicking. The game is fine.

I’m not complaining, I’m trying to solve the difference between the community to see what it is we can agree on.

I can’t make a reasonable comparison if I don’t nitpick…

Most of the changes you’ve listed are in response to polling, and monitoring of their playlists/servers. Theysee that… No one plays as elites, nor chooses elite games => waste of their efforts. Most competitive higher end players say that there are too many nades on the maps => no more lots of nades. All ppl really do prefer having some form of “run as fast as possible i need to help my team(or i meed to kill the flag carrier)” ability. I loved halo ce, i really really did, but without sprint, in urgent times, you felt like you were running in pudding and were tempted to just put down ur controller + 90% of reach players use sprint. => all players get sprint.

The only true issue i’m worried about is specialization classes. I’m waiting to here a detailed description of matchmaking. If high end class specialized players can play with unspecialized players i’ll be worried about the game. This is the only thing in my eyes that really threatens the last loved arena shooter. Otherwise all seems fun, fair, and nondisruptive to the halo flow.

I can’t wait for us all to play and have informed, experienced discussions. It’s so hard for us to tell the future.

Ps. Neutral amd clueless = no. So the poll resluts are pretty inconclusive unless you sum (neautral + clueless + no = NO)

Well then why make this argument if you knew you didn’t have good evidence?

I wonder why all the changes, this isn’t a new trilogy with different things going on after the 5 years to the prior game. And its not like multiplayer follows campaign weather it be new locations, weapons and what not as well as ascetics. Sarcasm

Evidence to what? This thread is not an argument, it’s an opinion.

I don’t like the Banshee design…

It’s the Waypoint motto.

Have you read my thread at all to understand that a legitimate sequel to a series that has had over 7 installments needs a good balance between changes and non-changes?

Evidence to your opinion. You see all the stuff you listed? That’s your evidence. You’re trying to justify your opinion.

“The game is fine” Also an opinion. It’s fine that you’re optimistic, but don’t jump down other people’s throats because they’re not, especially if you’re going to be a hypocrite.

No, no it doesn’t this a starting point in the next chapter in the halo saga and while it will continue to have the same things that make the universe it self it will be going in a new direction as we are not focusing on the original trilogy any more. There is a new enemy, new place, set 5 years in the future, new characters/tech, basically it is a new story to take the series forward it does not need to be the same that would make no sense.

Who said it had to be the same? If you wanted something SOO different then why do you insist on calling the game ‘Halo’? I mean, it is a ‘new, fresh start’, right?

lol, no…

Change that is good, is good.

Change that is bad, isn’t good.

Change for the sake of change is rarely if ever good.

As it stands, almost all of the “changes” in Halo 4 are terrible.

Firefight is being removed? OMG why!, couldn’t they have had firefight and spartan ops?

How stupid do you think I am? And why would they have both? Last time I checked ONE single persons expectations could not change an ENTIRE games game modes. So get used to it.
