Im just going to make this clear, im not a troll and i don’t hate halo. I just wanted to share some aspect that disappointed me in halo:reach’s campaign:
Carter: were a team, the lone wolf stuff stays behind
noble 6: copy that sir
(team splits up after first level, wait what?)
Bungie saying we would see more insurgents in this game, what really happened:
UNSC guy: we think they are insurgents, go investigate.
Emile: plasma burn, must be insurgents
Carter (looking at marines impaled on wall at elite height): Must be insurgent Noble 6 shots a jackal
everyone: wow, how unexpected, the enemy who we’ve been fighting for 30 years attacking us.
everybody dies to defend one planet, chief saves the world by himself…
Kat’s death
becomes very depressing after half of game is passed
Noble 6’s death (Lethal vector according to doc halsey, only other spartan with that rating is chief, dies…)
the ‘‘stealth’’ mission
Jun: go in silently (shoots unsilenced sniper and pistol, fight a whole task-force of covenant), that was totally stealthy.

below the impaled Army trooper, there was also Elite and Jackal footprints in blood, oh well those must innies too…
I remember Bungie saying they wanted to to show us insurgency to put a plot twis on things. the only decent Human thing I saw were the “farmers” of the first 1/8 of the first mission.
Everything afterwards was mindless killing, just location progression with AI put in to slow your progression, lame.
My beef with Reach was that it had too little of everything. The jetpack level was wasted on a boring city, and the tank run was so short, I wonder why they kept it. Not to mention the weak voice acting and flat characters.
They called it a ‘swan song’, but it was really just a gallery of stuff they’ve done before. None of it, however, was used well enough to merit being there.

Im really lost and wondering whats canon or not. There were no brutes on reach ever. They’re not seen until first strike… right? Also didn’t the unsc first start fighting the covenant in space above reach not on reach? It seems bungie went out of their way to contradict the story of reach.
Bungie has already said the game supersedes the entire events of the covenant ‘attacking’ Reach. Everything before and after is set. The game was only to depict the battle
To me there wasn’t a proper sniping level in reach. In Nightfall all the enemies were well within DMR range. It just happened that you had a sniper rifle. I suppose this was the same for all halo’s though.

I had never really thought about it but you make some valid points and I sadly agree with you… Although I did like Reach, other than the fact that Bungie crapped on the existing cannon and pretty much said “What we want is what is important.” That just kind of sucks because it makes a lot of The Fall of Reach non-cannon when it existed long before Reach did. I just feel like they could have done a better job trying to stick with the existing cannon. I would be okay with some minor changes and work around but they just all out through it out the window of a sixty story building… It just doesn’t really show a willingness to collaborate in the creation of a universe…

Totally agree with the voice acting. They sound like robots. We’ve lost all power, going down… I hate my job (that last bit would have explained the lack of emotion.

Brutes where first seen in Contact Harvest, well before Reach was attacked.
