I’ve been a player since Halo: CE. So far, from what I’ve played. Gameplay is better then what I expected from a beta, the mechanics still feel like Halo. I enjoy it A LOT more then I did Halo 4. Although, I have some complaints, or I guess you can say harsh criticism.
Halo is turning into a twitch shooter, which doesn’t suit its style. The SMG and AR are extremely overpowered for Halo’s flow. I like the idea of Spartans letting you know when weapons spawn or are about to spawn, but they put TOO much emphasis on it. The frag grenades blast radius is ridiculous while the plasma grenades feel almost useless. The competitive skill ranking has a good idea but its a complete joke. I have only played for about an hour and a half and I’m already half way to “semi-pro” tier.
There needs to be punishment for quitting. Because when 343i addresses the problems the tier system has I don’t want my rank damaged just because other players are incompetent. Strafing almost seems pointless because of some of the automatic weapons spread, therefore I try and ghandi hop, but I cannot because of the ground pound. My thought on how ghandi hopping can work is to be able to use it when jumping on a solid surface since you cannot ground pound unless you have enough elevation.
While sprinting has been balanced for the most part I still feel like unlimited sprint isn’t justified. The sprinting animation looks funky when holding the BR/DMR. Overall Halo 5 has a lot of potential. 343i, if you listen to the communities feedback, and balance out these problems you might have struck gold. This game has the potential to be either really great or really bad. I like what I see so far, please acknowledge these issues, thank you.
