What have you done to Halo 5's customization, 343i

Gaunt1et 5
Of everything amazing that 343 Industries has done to Halo 5, the Spartan customization is probably the worse thing they have done. One of the things that keep me loving Halo is ability to fully customize your Spartan from head to toe. However this feature was greatly nerfed in Halo 5. The Spartan customization includes
-Armor
-Helmet
-Visor
-Color
That’s it. Spartan Armor comes in sets, similar to that from the Master Chief Collection. You CANT customize
-Forearms
-Chest
-R/L Shoulders
-Legs
I don’t understand why 343 industries has done this. They may have included cool stuff like armor and weapon skins, but what’s the point when I can’t even fully customize my Spartan? The video where I got this information from is below. It shows the FULL CUSTOMIZATION LOBBY for HALO 5.
I do not own this video as well.
Can this please be looked upon in the future?

Gaunlet, with the sheer number of choices, which is what, nearly 175 last I checked, right?
175 helmets
175 forearms
175 chest
175 left shoulder
175 right shoulder
175 legs
What was visors? Like 30?
Now, think about this for a second, the numbers of combinations would be:
175x175x175x175x175x175x30 =861,687,011,718,750, meaning they have to have a render for each of these. No, thanks. It’s just fine how it is. Stop complaining.

This isn’t something that can just be “fixed”…
It is a design decision. Reach had the best customization, but I doubt we’ll ever get that level of detail again.
Still, if Halo 5 has all of the popular fan-favorite armors, I’m happy.

That’s the problem you people were spoiled rotten with that and now you expect it. That is just not how things work.

No one ever has said ‘cool forearm armor, bro’. Sure they took some in depth customization out but they didn’t ruin it. There is going to be so many choices, whoever has made threads about this will feel silly.

No man it’s going to be 175 helmets and 175 armor sets. Plus a large portion of the armor in Halo 4 was recycled and improved in Halo 5.

I still LOVE Halo 5, and am dying for it to come out. But honestly, I was definitely a little disappointed with just the way they making Spartan Customization.

No he knows what it is. He’s saying if they let you choose each individual piece, they would have to render 861 trillion different Spartan models and make sure all the pieces line up correctly because that’s how many possible combinations there would be. You have more than enough possible options with how it is slated right now. As it stands with what has been shown, you have nearly 2 million different Spartan models available, with more armor coming post launch. That’s enough possible combinations to play a different Spartan for every game you play. If you played 10,000 games in Halo 5, and changed your look every game, you still wouldn’t have touched 1% of the total possibilities.

Guys I’m not bashing on Halo 5, I’m still going to buy it and play the hell out of it. But I just wasn’t impressed with the customization. Then again, I may care more for the customization then other players, who done really give a damn.

So what do they do will all the power of this next gen system?
More particles you see for two seconds? Cool lighting that no one pays attention to?

BTW, they have no reached 175 yet. It’s 175 counting alternate skins, meaning its the same armor with a different color scheme.

As opposed to Reach using the same helmet 27 times with a different little flashlight on the side?

Yea I understand, My expectations for the Halo 5’s customization was just different that’s all. I was expecting an improvement from Halo 4’s customization and wanted to bind all these armor pieces to make such a badass Spartan. But I guess I’m gona have swallow my opinions and stop thinking about the past.

Lol those flashlights and hardened uplink modules were pretty damn awesome though.

They should at least let you customize the secondary color/s.

They do.

Creating more options for customization (shoulders, legs, etc) means LESS armor variants, just like back in Halo 3 and Halo Reach. Probably Halo 4 too. There were MANY awesome designs scrapped in favor of rendering less. 175 different helmets and only about 19 of them (about 5 actual variants, most of this number is skins) of them I would not wear. I’d say that more than makes up for it.

There’s a couple other threads on this already.
