What have I missed?

I’ll cut the old story short.

Halo 3 was my first ever halo game. Ever since i’ve been playing and buying every single halo. I was in middle school during this time back in 2011 I believe? got all the way up to halo 4 and honestly I was severely disappointed with the multiplayer and overall dropped halo and xbox out of my life.

Well whats bringing me back after 4 years of cheap pc gaming and playstation gaming for those who care to read this? To be honest PS4’s down time from those ddosers, minimal amount of games to choose from, and lack of good fighting games (yea i dont care that sony is converting street fighter to a exclusive, I don’t want to deal with the potential supreme omega alpha street fighter 5 possibility.) I decided it was time to come back to microsoft for the fighting game killer instinct and the halo master chief collection to have all the old halos and the predecessors all on one console. This is also possible now that im legally an adult now and have my own job so people cant dictate what i can get with my own money I found its high time to come back with guns blazing.

If there are any hardcore halo players left I would like their opinion on halo 5 and if it will be any good. I also want to know how halo 3 and reach multiplayer is doing. I don’t really care for halo 4 multiplayer all that much it felt like call of duty to me. The lack of being an elite also pissed me off but thats another thread for another day.

I’ve been playing since Halo CE and I’ve liked every Halo so far, with all their quirks and mistakes, but I’m looking forward to Halo 5.

will there be a possibility to be an elite though.

I’m more of a “soft core” player in the sense of not being very good, but very hard core in terms of loyalty to, longevity with, and enthusiasm for Halo.

Game play with Guardians multiplayer seems to me to be moving a little farther from a tactical game and closer to a twitch game, meaning that the pacing will be quicker. Planning a strategy will take a back seat to simply moving quickly and reacting quickly. The new motion mechanics seemed gimmicky to me. I’m especially disappointed that thruster pack is being ported from H4 when we were specifically told that AAs were out. Apparently the only ones that are out are the ones not used by the most competitive players. The inclusion of sprint is as controversial as ever, but having gone back to re-play the older games on MCC, they seem comparatively slow and stale to me. On the issue of sprint, everyone has to decide for themselves, but it isn’t going to go away - so I guess that means it’s time for people to make their peace with it. Weapons seemed pretty solid to me, and not too different from previous games… except less aim assist. It seemed like a lot less to me, but that may just have been the panic I get when faced with anything new. There’s a new game mode - can’t remember what it’s called - but it was a “one life per round” game, and to me those game types are practically designed to promote quitting. All in all, hyper-competitive players will be happy to have back equal starts, no weapon drops, no custom load outs. Weapons-on-map did not appear to be out of control, as was the standard in Halo 3, but it’s too early to say as these kinds of things can change right up to the last minute, and often even after the last minute. No details yet on how matchmaking will work, what the ranking systems will look like, no discussion on join-in-progress, no look at any game play other than 4v4, no details about fire fight / spartan ops replacement, or about forge. Look for some new information at E3.

That’s a bit of a hot topic now. There’s a thread called “Elites in New Trilogy Matchmaking” that’s received over 9000 posts.

I’d wager that playable Elites is the most requested addition to Halo 5, but they haven’t been confirmed yet.
