It’s really sad that once of a it was “lets play Halo”. Now it’s “I have to buy a REQ pack to get a different color weapon” or “What do you think the forerunners are?”…I don’t give a tosh what the forerunners are or who Cortana is mad at. I just want to play Halo. I don’t get these brain washed fanboys nowadays. So easy for companies to hype them up & get them to part with cash for rubbish. That’s why they have the kind of marketing strategies they have now…

I had to reread your GT because for a moment I thought to myself ‘I don’t remember posting this’.
You echo my thoughts perfectly.
‘What can I unlox now???!1’
‘Which REQ should I buy’!’
‘Who are the forerunners, truly? Maybe they were conceived by… long-winded theory based on something the writers haven’t constructed from thin air yet’
So much WHO CARES coming from me.
I just want to play Sprintless, competitive, 1-50 Halo. What has happened? Gaming pretty much sucks now.
I was so bored with H5 over the weekend that I bought BLOPS 3. Amazing how many fun playlists are in that game, not to mention no server issues. H5 is already so damn boring, I’m so sick of having to beg 343 for basic stuff.
343 brought this upon themselves, Playlist Management is insanely bad. Tons of server errors since launch, a “grind” for 500 of the same armor I could care less about. “Ultra Rare” boosts that give me 262 RP? Really? Combine that with routinely matching me against Champions/High Onyx people when I’m a Diamond 1… I’m out.

You’re a blatant troll.
You don’t go on a forum looking for pick up games. You would, you know, actually play the game and interact with people in game or party chat to set that up.
They did plenty of marketing about how their new gameplay and multiplayer modes would make the game funner to play. They did demo’s of the game showing off how co-op would work in the game. etc etc. They did market for casual gamers. Some trailers were cinematic and story focused but general TV ads were more succinct and action based.

My guess is the dev’s are trying to create a lore, a depth that will immerse the player. I just see it as a load of old tosh. Original Halo was just a 1st person shooter, that’s it! Simple as that! I don’t recall giving a rats -Yoink!- where The Covenant came from. All I knew was that they were in my way. Microsoft & Bungie in creating Halo just happen to stumble upon something special. It’s level construction felt expansive & non-linear. Master Chief was like James Bond of the future, cool, calm & you just knew he’d get the job done! Iconic weapons, Dynamic vehicles fully destructible. Strategic gameplay…A COMPLETE GAME…Now it just feels like an empty shell & you’ve to keep paying more money to fill it up with bs…
I dont get too enmeshed in the story, although I do enjoy it.
zero games played
When I entered this thread I was expecting it to be about the sheer amount of vitriol and hatred being thrown around.
Instead, I open it to see you complaining about people having an interest in the story.
Now I’m just confused.
I don’t get this post… Not entirely.
As far as the “what reqs to buy”, yes I can agree… Some players are more concerned about which packs to unlock… But it’s all the same. Several variants of the same armor is very boring. You can’t even tell the difference during game play.
The “lore” of Halo… I love it. I think the Halo Universe is amazing. Having read the books and short stories, watched the movies and videos. I think 343 has a great opportunity to expand. This nickel and dime stuff they’re doing is ridiculous. (Though I’m guilty of spending real world money to acquire everything already) For the average player, spending money like that is crazy.
I’ve never played other first person shooters. But from what I hear and what I’ve read, 343 and Halo is lacking in all areas of gameplay. Sad too. I really love the Halo Universe.
I can understand the opinion on the REQ system and microtransactions or whatever, but hating on people for being interested in the story? When the Halo universe is one of the best around? Fair enough if you’re not interested in the story, but I see no reason to put others down for it. I’m not a massively competitive person myself, I only get competitive if I’m on with friends, but I don’t hate on people who are trying to top the leaderboards of arena playlists.

It just goes to show how people can be such cu nts! I mean, if you took religion out of the world people would just find another reason to hate or dislike each other. My point is there will always be some fu

Nothing wrong with people asking about the lore. the lore can draw people in and the lore can keep people in. As for the reqs statement, I agree with that. I see comments often about people wanting to unlock all the armors and skins. I really don’t get that at all. But I’m old school looks don’t matter. It seems the younger generation has forgotten to play for fun and laughter. You have to have a carrot and stick to keep them interested. I play for fun. I enjoy headshots. I enjoy melees. I enjoy the crazy funny physics when a body gets tossed weirdly. That is what I play for.
Jaded…
