What has gone wrong.

I feel as the shift to include PC in the Halo MCC has go awry. I have played halo for most of my gaming experience and have noticed that with the MCC as new updates roll out my experience has suffered. I enjoy both the campaign and multiplayer and when i bought a better TV and x box one x the games looked amazing. But then things started going south. I started to notice stuttering in the campaign when when playing halo 2, which it didn’t before. The matches seem out balanced and have still people AFK-ing. And that is just the tip. My friend wanted to play halo to experience the story and random lighting glitches started happening. It saddens me to see a series i loved so much and for so long to fall down. I felt no joy when the Halo Infinite trailer dropped. Due changes were made to game play (grappling hook) for some odd reason but also introducing a villain from the Halo Wars 2 game? The last 2 games have been all over the place and rather then address it they throw us curve ball after curve ball. Heck, in the last core Halo game (Halo 5 “Guardians”) you played more as Agent Locke then you did as Chief. They made the customization of your spartan a lottery which boiled down to helmet, suit, or visor. I want to find the good in these new games and i want people to enjoy them too, and i have enjoyed them, but i’m not sure if i can watch this ship sink any longer. When Infinite comes out, this will be the first Halo game i don’t get opening day.

Halo Wars 2 & Halo 5 are linked. The stories are converging and expanding the Halo Universe within the games. Personally I don’t see that as a bad thing.
Bringing in the Banished as a enemy faction is a way of actually tying on old halo lore back into the newer games. Considering we haven’t seen the brutes since Halo 3 (chronologically) after the schism in Halo 2. It actually makes a decent amount of sense that the brutes are back and in fact have their own faction as the Banished.

As for equipment in Halo Infinite. Equipment was in Halo 3 and that worked relatively fine. I think it’s a better alternative then Halo 5’s abilities. Let’s not hate on something before we even try it.

As for Halo 2A being buggy on MCC. That’s been a issue since Reach was added. No one is directly sure what happened but I imagine it’s not such a simple thing to fix. With MCC being such a huge and complex game I imagine things behind the scenes are actually super hard to work with.

The game was never perfect to begin with either. Let’s not forget MCC’s horrific launch which probably affected polishing of that game. Since then they’ve been trying to add content to keep people playing. Sadly it seems like cleaning up performance on H2A has been left aside a little, if it was more game breaking there’d be more incentive to fix it.

As for AFK matchmaking that’s not exactly in 343’s direct control. I’m sure they could try to introduce a system to try to get around that but players still find ways to AFK regardless. With older games changing the code to add in a AFK could be done though I’m not super sure how easy that would be.

I don’t want it to sound like I’m disregarding what you’re saying here but maybe try to bring some kind of constructive element to your points too.
If you don’t think something is right in game, how would you like to see that fixed or changed?

Watch the video in my signature about the story of Halo so you can see how the stories are linked. As far as game play Halo has always changed from game to game. At first I didn’t like the idea of the grappling hook but I actually can’t wait to try it out. I feel it will be better than that Spartan charge as with a hook you will have to aim and time it and know when to use it so it will be more skill based and not so nooby like charge. MCC has always had bugs around and introducing PC hasn’t been any different IMO. The only campaign issues is sometimes there is this pause in the game at certain points, mostly is HCE and H4 for me. H5’s customization and req system was pretty bad but they have said Infinite won’t have a “loot box” system so we will have to wait and see how it will work for Infinite. I will say I may or may not get Infinite on launch myself as it’s more about will the game actually work? 343 hasn’t made a fully functional game on xbox one yet and infinite they built from the engine up. It’s sad to see the quality of gaming over all just seems to be going down, it’s not just 343.

I know that brutes haven’t been seen since halo 3 which is sad but halo wars took place years before the Halo event. Then when they introduced halo wars 2 they jumped them ahead just to fit the narrative which i think was a major flaw. I am of the mind that there are core games and then there are secondary games. The numbered halo games are the core and are where the story should be contained. Anything out side of that should either have some connection or should just be for fun. Halo wars, ODST and reach were games you didn’t need to play to understand what was going on. But now if you wanted to experience the all all the narrative you would have to play 2 addition games that aren’t FPS. I liked them wars games and enjoyed playing them but was hoping they would be their own thing.

As for my points i was making it was late and i was venting and didn’t really have the time to put thoughts into everything i was saying. I understand that nothing is perfect and things such as AFK and multiplayer are based of times of day and ones own attitude. I did really like the climbing aspect the added in Halo 5 because it made sense that he should be able to climb a ledge (he can flip a tank after all). But the spartan charge and hover feel like far too much. I also feel like the added things like the charge because it would look cool nothing more. As for the sprint being added in 4 and 5 i was indifferent towards it.

I didn’t own and X box One at the launch of the MCC so i didn’t know but i had heard the stories and i do appreciate the efforts they have made. I just seems odd when progress goes in reverse.

I’m not knocking halo infinite but when friends of mine who know I’m a fan say things like it doesn’t look or feel like a halo game the does raise some concerns.

At the end of the day there is just far to much information to go through to discuss and I’m glad i mentioned some of it. I wanted to see what others thought and I’m glad i did. I’m always willing to see what people have to say and re-evaluate my own ideas. I hope i can do this more.

Thanks for the links but i actually do know the whole timeline and i understand what they are doing i just don’t like it. The halo wars game felt like a separate entity in the halo-verse because it took place before the events of halo so i thought 2 would take them somewhere knew not tie them together. Too many games under one narrative can have problems (Kingdom Hearts for example.) I just feel you should be able to play the core games to know the story, not have to stretch into other areas to learn it. As for an example did you know the Didact didn’t die in halo 4 but in a comic? Now whether that is cannon or not is a different story but still.

Your right though that i should give the hook a try because it could be fun and i do know that the game play has changed but it feels like the small steps from here to there have become leaps and bounds. Also it feels like another game does it and 343 goes " we should do that too." rather then think of something new. The grappling hook almost looks like Just Cause popped in to say hi.

I get that gaming has gone down and i know that things will never be the way they were it’s just sad where you can see the good ideas they have (the forerunner being an enemy) but then dropping it for something else rather then see it develop and grow. We’ve been through 3 villains by the time infinite drops. You can’t really invest like you did with the covenant.

I guess I’ll just have to wait and see but i’m glad you commented barbecue i enjoy hearing what others say.

Yeah the Halo story can be tough to follow because it is told in more ways than just games, that is one reason I love the franchise so much as Halo is more than just a game. How ever what they really need to do, and it kinda boggles my mind they don’t do it is have some sort of tutorial that explains some of the stuff in the outside media in game. They don’t have to go into detail but just some basics at least. I think most gamers don’t know where to look to find the information. You really do have to dig for it as it’s not like it’s major announcements for the outside media for Halo. Even as much as I love Halo, I know the Diadact was composed/killed in comics but I couldn’t say what the comics official name is or where to get them besides saying “google it”. Maybe have a Halo shop in game that has outside media listed and what story it tells.
