Does anyone know what 343i has done for connection issues?
Examples:
People from the US should not get matched against Columbians and people from Australia and vice versa.
There should not be a host-record that is plain stupid.
Should be able to search matchmaking by region. Like North America( North East, Mid West).
If you don’t think its a problem to be matched against people who live in Australia when you live in NY let me just say I ping off of people from Australia at .800 ms that is almost a full second…
Anyway this is not trying to be a “troll” thread please don’t post ignorant comments.
Honestly it shouldn’t matter playing against people from other countries as long as 343i has a stronger net-code than halo reach then I will be ok. Host could be eliminated by using servers or dedicated servers but 343i is still some-what of a new company and can’t afford that at the moment.

yea and it takes double for us. i dont even care, 80% of my games are yellow connection i just try my best to win.

343i is partners with Microsoft I am pretty sure so they could certainly afford it.
Plus if they had a “Premium Package” where you could play on the servers or rent servers or even buy servers I would gladly pay 50 to 100 dollars a year for that and I know plenty of other people who would do so as well. So no money issues if you have to pay honestly I see nothing but laziness in the way, but hey I don’t know how busy these guys are.
Also net code doesn’t change how long it takes for my packets to get across the world.
The world needs to be 100% fiber-optics then we are set.

343 wouldn’t pay for the servers. Microsoft would.

Not when you are host and all your friends live next to you then they get what I like to call backyard host… I see your point but what I am saying is not for “Americans” benefit only I used that as an example. Wouldn’t you rather play people from your part of the world?

playing against foriegn people is what online multiplayer is about i have to listen to new zealanders go on everyday. atleast when i play against someone from another country i can laugh at their funny accent.

Umm, you still don’t get the big picture here. Why does EA have servers in their games because they’re a big company who makes profits and halo 4 is not under bungie’s control it is under a fairly new company (343i) why would Microsoft take a risk like that. Even if halo is the biggest seller this year 343i has to be the one to put servers unless Microsoft can make a big profit from it.
Also just because you would pay for a ‘premium package’ doesn’t mean others will you’re speaking for yourself and I am quite sure you’re not the majority of the community.
Been playing on yellow bar connection against Americans since Halo 2, I don’t expect 4 to be much different since there’s only so much 343 can do about this. Not enough Australians to get constantly matched up with someone from my own country unfortunately
