Hey guys,
I just thought of this and realized it’s like the biggest mystery out there on infinite. What happens if you die in this open world? I didn’t see any “Checkpoint Saved” messages or anything like that. Will it just bring you back to your previous mission or will it be like Spartan Ops in Halo 4 where when you die you just respawn and you don’t lose progress in the mission?
Let me know what you guys think or if they released what happens when you die and I just didn’t see it.

They weren’t really running Halo Infinite at the E3 showcase, only a demo. It’s possible that they didn’t have checkpoints at all in the demo.
As for the real game, I imagine it will be a mix of manual saves and autosaves, as most open world games do. Probably there will be autosaves when you conclude a mission and in the middle of missions after you reach some areas. For example, in the demo there is this moment when you get an elevator, that would be a nice moment for an autosave.
I haven’t thought about that until now, but maybe mixing manual saves with autosaves can fix that issue with past Halo games when you respawn in a dangerous area, for example, with a Jackal aiming at you with a beam rifle.
there are a few ways to do it. Autosaves and you go back to an autosave (the most likely and demos don’t have these so you would not see them). It autosaves only at the end of missions or objectives (possible but unlikely). Only manual saves (def not).
It prob gonna work like anything, autosaves at the beginning or end of an objective and or at timed intervals.
I guess it will be more like far-cry outpost system. You capture zones, free your fellow soldiers from being held ,and make them your “safehouse”. See, when You do a quest in far cry 3, there are almost 3 stages in the quest. When you die during the 2nd stage ,you respawn at the beginning of the 2md stage. Thats how i think it will work in infinite, and if you die while exploring, i guess you will respawn at the nearest outpost. But this system is very unlikely. I think there will be a checkpoint system

Niaaa… If the spawns work like Spartan Ops 343i could as well just burn down the studio while they’re at it. Not gonna happen! It will be like any other semi-open world shooter like Gears (of War) 5 or newer Far Cry games: it autosaves before entering a combat area and after defeating/escaping the enemy. Simple as that!
There will have to be checkpoints. This is Halo after all, right?
i hope it’s a checkpoint system and not some boring open world system. and i hope it’s not like spartan ops with just respawning without losing progress. at some point i started just throwing myself into the enemies taking out one or two before dying and then repeat that, bc it was quicker on legendary that way, than actually trying to approach the mission in some smart way.
I’m hoping we get a ghost that brings us back like Destiny
When you die in the game you die in real life
Probably some sort of checkpoint system, you stop at an outpost or you liberate something and then you’ll get a spawn point.
