What Happened with the Old Halo community? I remember those times when people downloaded the maps, and then transfer their Gamertag to friends so they could get them for free.
I miss those times when everybody wanted all the possible people to have the DLC so they could play together. At first the Heroic map Pack was at 800 Microsoft Points. A lot of people buy it, and after a while it was free, and I don’t remember any complain about it.
Why have you change so much? We used to be the Halo community, we used to have fun finding cool Glitches, Easter Eggs, playing a nice SWAT game and stuff like that. Now instead when we found a Glitch, we want them to fix it. Easter Egg, was to easy to find. SWAT, is broken, etc etc etc.
This Free maps thing… Yes, I got the LE and I know I wasted my money, but I don’t care at all. What I want is everybody to have the maps, so I can play and have fun with what used to be the Best Gamer community…
This isn’t 343 Industries fault. If 343i didn’t take Halo as theirs… Halo would be dead by now… even Bungie said that. They didn’t want to keep making Halo, they said that on the Halo 3 Legendary Edition Exclusive content.
I miss the Old Halo community guys…
Its just greed. Classic human greed.
Glitches in MP are not the same as glitches in Campaign/Forge. I mean you can’t justify the Boltshot glitch, which i am glad they fixed. Let’s not start on Complex wall glitch :P.
There is still that community that finds the cool glitches and Easter Eggs. Youtube will prove you wrong.
IIRC, the Heroic Map pack was made free because it wasn’t getting positive feedback. Not because Microsoft was being generous or anything though i am surprised Cold Storage was free.
You want a good fun halo community go join a different gaming fourm. Everyone here just b*tches and moans for everything.
What you described was what Waypoint was until E3, then it started to change.
There is a difference between a gamebreaking glitch like the rocks in crimson or the floor and sword jumping outside of the map on Headlong or Boneyard.
This was one of the major issues I had with Reach. I bought the damn map packs and could only play them in their select playlists. It would have been great if they had made them free after maybe 4 months or so.
I’d love everyone to have the maps as well, the more the merrier.
However, the maps have to be paid for somehow, and I don’t see how it would be fair if I paid for them and others didn’t. Although I’d like to see them go free after a period of exclusivity, maybe 3 months so we all get to enjoy them.
However, if I knew they were going to do that I prob wouldn’t buy them in the first place as I’m not that fussed. So it’s a bit of a catch 22 for 343.

I’m not talking about every kind of Glitch. There are Glitches that are actually fun, and some others that broke the game. I understand that. But people seem to be too different from the past… They want everything to be their way, and the worst part, immediately. The game just came out one month and six days ago.
> You want a good fun halo community go join a different gaming fourm. Everyone here just b*tches and moans for everything.
Then you are on the wrong part of the forum.
OP, there are still people like that out there (myself included) who love glitch and easter egg hunting.
People who say “Good game” even when they lose, people who will offer to party up with the better player, rather than be mad. People who work to get better, rather than complain.
They are still out there, there are just less of them.
Complaining was actually the entire reason the Heroic map pack became free. Not sure how good your memory is, but everyone complained that because they made Foundry, and actual Forge Map, and everyone who didn’t buy it felt they missed out on more than just a map pack.
Then when they DID make it free, there were a couple of complaints, but overall because the people who payed got early access to the map pack, and the people who got it for free had to wait, it felt fair.
This case is TOTALLY different.
The people who payed for the Map Pack were promised a lower price for paying beforehand, and because of this, they actually had to pay MORE. And on top of that, the people who got the maps free did NOT have to wait for them. Which is total -Yoink-.
When I purchased an equivalent of 2000 ms points, as a bundle to save 400 ms points, and now I find out I actually spent MORE money, and everyone ELSE saved 800 ms points. I was absolutely ripped off.
> Its just greed. Classic human greed.
It’s not greed, it’s FAIRNESS. The people who prepayed the bundle are now being ripped off because of a stupid glitch. And MS isn’t even doing justice for it.
I am NOT greedy because I bought a bundle to save money. But it is UNFAIR when I do this, and am promised to save some money, and instead, everyone else saves more than I do.
Online gaming has changed. Its become more competative and gamers take things to heart. Its not what it was back when console online gaming was new. Halo 2 was the game that everyone got along on for the most part. There wasnt day where i wasnt invited to glich games and zombie games. But with stats, MLG playlists, mics for trash talk, the youtube trolling comunity, and gamers who take things to far, online gaming has become a mine field. You almost never know what actions you do will result in.

Glitches should be fixed… maybe its just me, but I see that as shoddy craftsmanship…
I also, just flat out hate SWAT… whether its broken or not…
The Halo community I grew up with is gone, I guess you noticed too.
Everyone grew up, all got jobs and have lives to live.
Meanwhile, the next generation of gamers has grown to be a majority of the population, which is on average younger.
The new generation also seems like it feels alot more entitled.

Some things are better left that way.

Yep, i’m literally ashamed of this community most of the time. Its not that Halo 4 got “worse”…gamers got worse.
> What Happened with the Old Halo community? I remember those times when people downloaded the maps, and then transfer their Gamertag to friends so they could get them for free.
Well doing that type of stuff will now get players banned.
what happened? Nothing. The halo community has always been this demanding and grumpy. The only thing thats changed is the community has gotten bigger. Which means the complaints feel louder.

Im not talking about the map pack issue. I got teh LE and so far everything has worked for me. Didnt have to pay extra for maps and im level 82. I did post a pretty pointless coment but iv seen gaming change so much ever since XBL came into the picture
343i didn’t “take” Halo. It was given to them by Microsoft on a silver platter. What microsoft should have done was find a development team that knew how to make games and not just print comic books.
