What Happened to Xbox Support?

I haven’t used in it a while, but used it yesterday while trying to help a friend and… what happened? Xbox support used to be so good, it was the bastion of all the bad game supports out there and now it reminds me of EA help… not a good thing.

Why did they get rid of the old way of chatting with support people? They would connect you really fast with a real person and you could get to work immediately. Now they have the dumb robot you can’t help you since they give you the basic troubleshooting, but you probably aren’t looking for those if you have come to talk to someone. Also, is the new “fellow Xbox Gamer” just a name change to sound hip, or actually other people that MS is paying? or are they just volunteering?

How long has support been like this? Why did they change it? It used to be so much better…

You have to go through about 5 layers of ‘Contact Us’ to get to the live chat; you could probably ask to bot for a live chat or something. I used it a few months back to ask some questions about returning my controller, they’re super nice.

I think twitter is the best way to get support now. I think they laid off most of the support staff in favor of volunteers but I am not to certain.

That might explain their transition from great Twitter support to absolutely non-existant. Since last summer, I’ve messaged them multiple times and tweeted to them about those messages. I’ve gotten no acknowledgement of any kind, but they used to reply to all my messages within a couple of days before the summer.

i just google things if i need the answers and/ or help

Yeah Xbox really needs to fix it. I miss the old days of it. I understand change needs to happen but it’s as the saying goes “Don’t fix what isn’t broken”.

I have used twitter once and got instant help many years ago so I thought that was still the case due to the xbox.com forums not being around anymore.

I haven’t really used twitter, good to know that it is responsive there. I have to do that in a future reference if I have any problems.

From what I can tell, it seems they fired the actual support staff and replaced them with volunteers who are given prizes for helping people… Why? Xbox Support was so good! I mainly made this thread cause I was wondering what others thought and I haven’t used XS in a long while so I only learned of the changes like 3 days ago.

Agreed - Honestly there is no excusing it - This is Microsoft we’re talking about, and their support system is worse than an indie company’s - Microsoft should easily be able to hire support staff, not to mention that people who don’t speak English won’t be able to use their automated support robot.

Yeah, the bots are pretty stupid. Microsoft knows all about me by now and are probably tired of me but, I’m not the one who messed up the production of my Xbox. They still can’t explain why my Xbox stopped working correctly THE DAY AFTER the warranty expired, no joke.

I actually have a friend who had a similar issue of their Xbox not working, which is why we contacted support and I learned it changed. Luckily, we think its only the power supply which MS actually made very easy to replace with the Xbox One S.

The best way to contact Xbox support is to call.

The thing is my xbox is one of the few that wasn’t made with a power supply. It has a power cord that you would see on a 4k tv. I have actually lost the power cord so I need to buy a new one to play some more Halo.
