You’re ignoring the issue, the issue isn’t just that stuff costs money lol. The issue is there’s so little to begin with, and that there are such simple things worth $20 and who knows what they try to sell later that could be worth more.
Then there’s the very fact that “Halo” is Microsoft’s supposed flagship franchise, yet their newer games have less options and content than the previous games. It’s F2P model doesn’t and won’t give it a pass on that criticism, they should’ve made a new IP entirely if they wanted to try this shite business practice. Their lucky that F2P games have whales that blow through money because the loyal playerbase sure won’t support it.
It’s so funny how they said people can earn some stuff as “free” if they don’t want to pay, but 90% of the game will be behind a paywall, this is why no one can trust 343 . But hey, that F2P model will save them this time.
You really don’t need the armour sets in the store, you won’t die without it. There’s plenty of stuff in the Battlepass and more to come in the next ones.
Just stop. Just because you don’t care for something does not mean our game should be diluted. I’m sick of hearing people like you making any excuse they can to defend this exploitation. I’ve been playing Halo since the original Halo and been able to unlock content in a fair manner without being told I wasn’t allowed due to some predatory nonsense. This exactly the type of nonsense that makes me hate live service games. All this does is encourage me to go back to playing MCC. If people don’t care about earning armours then that’s fine but don’t go acting like it’s not important to others.
Diluted is a perfect word for the situation lol. Can’t even get more than 5 emblems when past games had gobs off them. Such simple things missing in a 2021 successor
Except we can’t earn armour we want because it’s blocked by some stupid premium battle pass. I could have tolerated it if they had some kind of credit system where we could earn it like with MCC but there’s nothing.
I don’t recall hearing that everything would be free, but do remember hearing that most items would be free to unlock. Of course, time to unlock is a separate matter.
Technically most of us here paid $60-$80 for a full AAA game already. we shouldn’t have to spend more money on said AAA games multiplayer component. The premium content should be earnable for those who bought the full game. If you want the full halo infinite game, you gotta pay that AAA price.
The unfortunate thing with that is it isn’t true, multiplayer is completely separate from campaign now and is it’s own stand alone deal, probably why they’re even doing the F2P model anyways for multiplayer to money gouge people.
I would feel bad for anyone spending $60 on the campaign, then a potential 100+ on all the battle passes infinites multiplayer will potentially have. That’s not even including buying progression if one goes that route, or buying specific armor sets for $20 or a $13 emblem lmfao. The game has the worst battle pass setup I’ve ever seen so far.
To be fair many on the forums have stated for months that best kit will be pay walled. Especially after the coating reveal. This is no surprise, and no I don’t support or condone it.
Tales of a “free” game entice players. Lots of flash, little substance. Stagnant progression induces frustration for very little real reward. Frustrated players are more likely to buy content.
Freemium games like War Thunder and World of Tanks work on this model. And I’m not trying to be too good for this world; I like World of Tanks a ton and spend money on it.
But not Halo, not like this. Halo shouldn’t be freemium or live service. It can be better than that. But nope, gotta rake in those sweet dollars.
The problem is, Halo has almost always had armor customization to a huge extent. Anything hallo 3 and on has had customization. Now all you get to do is pay 10 dollars every month and hope you can level up faster. There is nothing to work towards when playing. It is a huge part of halo that 343 just threw down a hole and left it to die.
I hope pricing is adjusted before launch. BP price is perfect, but individual cosmetics should be halved. $20 for armor or $9 for emblems is nuts.
If they at least implemented progression that gives credits to the player over matches.
They never said everything would be free, they said a lot of it would be, which made me suspicious from the beginning. But quite frankly, this is way worse than I thought, literally 50% of the content is locked behind a paywall, I mean this is ridiculous. I said from the beginning that Infinite multiplayer should’ve never been F2P, its just an excuse to monetize everything and that is exactly what is happening. 343 continues to destroy the franchise.
Good times. I still have my collection of 5 1/4” disks and yes even data cassettes, although I have yet to figure out where to plug the tape player into my Xbox.
I’m sure I’ll have fun with Infinite, but it sounds like I won’t be very stylish doing it.
