Many years ago, when Halo was still owned by Bungie. A user on the Bungie forums named ‘Wolverfrog’ began posting a Fanfiction called ‘True Sangheili’. This was far from their first work, having written several stories before that. However, this ended, from memory, due to Year 12 exams. Back in 2012. I’m just wondering if anyone knows what happened? Or how the story was supposed to end?
Hey, thanks for your interest, someone linked me to this post. True Sangheili was my 3rd full-length fanfiction, and it was the one with which I felt most frustrated by the limits imposed upon a writer by working within someone else’s universe. It was in excess of 400 pages if I remember correctly, but around the time that I released the last chapter (Christmas 2013) I started my University studies, which entailed moving from a rural town, where I had all the free time in the world, to a bustling city where I’ve had more going on in the last 4 years than in the preceding 18 years of my life. I haven’t have much free time to write, as it’s extremely time consuming and requires consistent week in, week out attention; True Sangheili was in its final act, but there were so many characters and threads to tie together that it was an impossible task with the time I had.
I’m actually graduating in July, and one of the things I’m most excited for is having more time to dedicate to my hobbies, writing included. However, I’m almost 22 years old now, and it’s been almost a decade since I first started writing on bungie.net; it was an extremely formative experience and one that inspired me to go on and study English Language at degree level, but I can’t see myself returning to this story. However, my hard-drive is brimming with ideas for my first proper novel, and they’re ideas I fully intend to realise. It’s been a long time since I wrote anything other than essays and articles, besides the odd short story here and there, so it’ll take a while for me to shake the rust off and find my creativity again. I’ll keep you in mind and let you know once I have.
Cheers!
