What happened to the traditional Halo?

In Halo 4 there are now ordinances. Yes those are cool and all, but there is nothing that remains of the traditional Halo when your grabbing weapons around the map. I am still very happy with Halo 4, but this was sort of a disappointment.

I’m not saying get rid of ordinances, but rather make a playlist that is just like the original Halo with weapons on the map, not dropped by the ordinances. Just slayer for that would be suffice. I vote calling it “Traditional Slayer”.

343 please take that into consideration.

So like slayer pro?

So play Halo 2?

the removal of instant respawn and the addition of actual full friendly fire is what team slayer needs

yea we need a classic playlist with proper classic rules!

While I am all for some retro playlists harking back to the good days of CE, I did not spend £45 to play CE/Halo 2/Halo 3/Halo R with fancier graphics and a few new guns. Not when Anniversary came out and definitely not with Halo 4.

Change can be good, people.

Change is great. But why can we have a playlist that reflects the Halo’s of Past. I’d love to see a Traditional Big team. With maybe even some objective in it. People who say go play pro kinda annoy me as well. I like my radar and I think a lot of people do too.

what sort of euphoric joy do you get out of picking weapons from the map?

why is this a change that should be made?

I agree with the OP. I mean the ordinaces are very cool and all, and it makes it more interesting. Yet I still miss picking up weapons. I mean the ordinaces are cool becasue now, for example, the enemy team can’t camp sniper spawn and stuff like that, so everyone has the chance of getting a power weapon. The one thing I hate, and hate to say it, is everyone starting out with cross-mapping weapons. I use to kill with the AR, and it was a great advantage when you picked up a BR/DMR, now-a-days it’s instant spawn… get cross mapped (to a certain degree of course). Although all the loadout weapons are VERY well balanced.

you only get ordnance after a certain amount of game time, so how is everybody “starting out with cross-mapping weapons” ?

lol. the DMR is easy to cross map with.

the person getting crossmapped by a dmr has some videogame boot camp to go to.

well, no one said it was a euphoric joy, I feel like it was more balanced. it was like a game of chess before. blank slate, with everyone having the same pieces to play with. Now, it’s like a game of… some sort of “Trading Card Game”… where whoever has been playing the longest, and has gotten a little luckier than you, is at an advantage.

Yeah, the BR/DMR are mid-long range weapons, also vibale at short range. I just miss starting out with the AR. Yeah everyone would melee and other non-sense, but just respawning and getting shot from half-way across the map is no fun. And you can’t even run away half the time, depending on the situation.

Really?

Spawning defaul weapons on the map has been on Halo since CE, and it is one of the things that make halo different from any other shooter right now.

The joy we get out of picking weapons from the map? That rush that you feel every time you start a new match, and you have to run to pick up your favorite weapon, the fun that you have when you are trying to kill the guy with the sword so you can use it, the need to be in constant movement looking for new weapons because you ran out of ammo, that feel when you just kill the guy that just picked uñ the rocket launcher before he is able to kill you, and the list goes on.

I agree with OP, at first I wasn’t happy about all the changs in the game, but I get used to them. However the only thing that I miss from other halos is the default weapons on the map, and we think that there should be at least a playlist where you can play some classic halo, that is all.

We don’t want to change the current game, we don’t want anything to be dropped from the game, no, we just want some classic playlists. If you don’t like the classic halo gameplay, well, good for you. But we like the classic halo gameplay and we are just asking for a simple playlist.

Spawning needs to be adjusted BIG TIME

The problem with no weapons on map is very simple for non-competitive players. No weapons map means you run out of ammo very quickly. Sure you can pick up ammo from dead bodies, but that isnt always an option. There needs to be weapons on map along with weapon respawns so people will have a target to fight for as well as have enough ammo to run around safely. Change can be good but change can also be bad. It also makes the game far more boring when everyone is running around with the same 2 weapons.

It can but not in this case. I like Halo 4 playlists and I also want the Classic ones too. Sure you didn’t pay for an old thing but you paid for Halo 4.

Look at COD, that game is pretty much the same thing every game, yet the most successful, people do pay for the same old thing with better features cuz it works.

Theres a reason Halo 2 and Halo 3 were the most successful.

I do not mind the playlist, but I want some encompassing things like squad battle or BTB objective, I don’t really like the single playlists in halo 4, getting something new almost every time was cool, but this isn’t really working out for me.

Restore the original HALO weapons pick up, it makes the game more balanced and makes it play better.
